Vic,

One wonders just how much of this is personal experience from your delivery of the twins?

Very compelling!

Ha! The C-section (and needing to up the meds halfway through - I could feel tugging but not pain, per se) for breech babies and the sudden onset of pre-e was from my experience. (And the immediate vomiting of water from the meds - not fun!)

But my girls were delivered at 38 weeks and didn't need any NICU time - they stayed in the room with us the whole time. The 35 weeks and NICU time came from a close friend of mine, who's daughter was a 35 weeker and who spent about 4 or 5 days in the NICU, just until she could hold her body temp steady.

Also, I kind of loved the idea of making Lois and Clark both sort of out of control of the situation. One of the early images I had when writing was of Clark standing there, torn as to if he should follow the baby or if he should stay with Lois. I has initially toyed with the idea of a regular (early) labor and natural delivery for Lois, but then have her start bleeding heavily, but even my twisted muse agreed that was a bit harsh. wink

Glad you enjoyed it!

Awwww---she is here! clap

I was surprised to have her arrive with still a few chapters left of the story--but I'm thrilled that she has so that we can see more of Lois and Clark as parents. Even though the delivery was nothing like either of mine--natural epidural births, one almost induced, the other was induced--it still brought back memories of those first moments as parents. All the excitement. All of the change.

So curious as to her name.

And some dark hair--hmmm? I can maybe think of a 'Super' someone with very dark hair? grovel smile.

Excited for more,
Laura

"Where's Clark?" "Right here."

...two simple sentences--with so much meaning.

Well, don't forget - Lex and Lois aren't exactly platinum blondes. wink

Name is coming soon. Next part, in fact. (I'm just glad no one's wanted to throw things at me to not revealing the name yet. goofy

Still lots to come in the next chapters. I thought it would be anti-climatic to end with the birth. Thanks for continuing to read!

Ah, flashbacks to 12 years ago, when my water broke a month early and my husband panicked, cursing as he tried to install the car seat! smile I was worried when the doctors told Clark that they had a girl before you wrote that the baby cried, because that gave me a flashback, too - Neal's APGAR was 2 at birth (nothing except a heartbeat), and I knew that something was wrong because he wasn't crying. (He was fine after 3 days in the NICU.) Here's hoping their baby is healthy and they get to take her home soon. smile

Ah, that's scary!

When my girls were born, I heard the doctor say "9:51 and 9:52" before I heard them cry. I panicked! But in the next second or so, I heard dual crying and that's when I started to cry in relief and joy. I'm not even sure what their AGARs were - no one ever told us. I think I might have seen 9 on some paperwork that we had to give the pediatrician at the first appointment, but they were 38 weekers, so, there's that. smile

Without spoiling anything, Lois and Clark's daughter is fine. She's just getting a little oxygen boost and being kept nice and toasty warm.

Car seats - don't even get me started. My '99 Corolla doesn't/didn't (we're getting rid of it - we bought a new minivan last week) have the latch system in it, nor do the rear seatbelts lock to stay tight, so we had to keep it tight with a metal clip. It took the car seat trained policewoman an hour to get both installed in my car ((we couldn't get it tight for the life of us) on the hottest day of the summer. I was very glad I had thought to make a plate of brownies as a thank you!
