Spoiler space for today’s active topics. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Integer pellentesque metus nec arcu imperdiet sit amet laoreet augue egestas. Etiam vestibulum semper blandit.

This one’s likely even harder than the previous one. I had so little time…

Quotes:
1. Really? ‘Kimberly’? Okay, I’m certain that if you have read the story, that one’s a glaring hint.
2. [Linked Image] /plunks down What A Gentleman Desires by VirginiaR
3. Let’s try Tales of Dystopia: Civil Disobedience by Mouserocks
4. Could also be a good contender for Dystopia, but I’ll try Enduring Power by Lady Loisette
5. Maybe one of Ken’s?
6. help
7. I’m still reading that one and maybe…Winter Wonderland by KathyB
8. Also a possibility… Winter Wonderland by KathyB
9. I don’t see a Nightfall in the list…
10. Aaahhh! Another one in the Nigerian Princess Diaries! hyper An Unexpected Visitor by Morgana

Excerpts:
1. Is it wrong to use Winter Wonderland by KathyB with every quote and excerpt?
2. Yes, I did BR it… Moving on…moving on…
3. Sticking with the quote.
4. Fits nicely with the title. I’m sticking with my #4 quote of Enduring Power.
5. mecry That has to be one of the Matchmakers…
6. jawdrop! Doodles! Doodles! Doodles! By Katherine Kent
7. Okay, that could work with The Wedding by Female Hawk. Stupid RL taking away time from story reading razz
8. Nope, that’s not Winter Wonderland. So… Thanksgiving in Smallville – Matchmaker Chronicles Volume 1 CE by KenJ?
9. This is most definitely a Nightfall story. I even remember a scuba quote but none of the titles ring a bell wallbash
10. Quote.

It’s getting harder. And I applaud the effort, Susan! clap notworthy

Answers are here, (I hope). Probably need a *lot* more spoiler space. Ring around the rosie, pockets full of posies, ashes, ashes all fall down. Hmmm from the Black Plague days. How did my mind go there?

QUOTE #1:
“Oh … Kimberly!” Winter Wonderland By Kathy Brown

QUOTE #2:
“Even though I’ve got to say, you couldn’t have picked someone who would rub Lois more raw: blonde and a lawyer!”
What a Gentleman Desires By VirginiaR

QUOTE #3:
At the very least, his time at this foster home was done. At the most, he’d be tried as an adult and spend years in jail.
Vagrant By Shayne Terry

QUOTE #4:
“You’re a monster, you know. Everyone knows it. You’re a dictator, a tyrant —”
EXCERPT #4:

To this day, this very moment, Jason Kent would do anything for his father, in spite of how he was treated in return. It only made Jason hate himself all the more, but he couldn’t help it. What he wouldn’t do for one shred, one iota of love or admiration or even respect from the man he’d like to call father. But no. He finished last on his father’s lists of cares. If the four of them were to be ranked, from most to least cared for, Jason was sure that the order would go: Jada, then Johanna, and then Jerome Jr. and himself. Of course, his father hated Jerome for everything he did — but hate was at least an emotion. There was nothing left for Jason, he thought bitterly to himself.”
Tales of Dystopia: Civil Disobedience By Mouserocks

QUOTE #5:
“Clark, please don’t let my death destroy you. The world still needs you. Both sides of you. The reporter and the superhero. I want you to go on with your life.”
Enduring Power By Lady Loisette

QUOTE #6:
Wash behind your ear. Doodles– by Katherine Kent

QUOTE #7:
If that happened, Lois would fly to Metropolis tomorrow, throw herself into her work, and resolve that she would never again waste one moment thinking about her weekend in Des Moines.
There's only one Des Moines. The Wedding – by Female Hawk

QUOTE #8:
“Oh! And both of you, it might be a good idea to stay inside after dark. Like you already noticed, we do have wolves — safest not to go around at night.”
Strangers to This World By Anti-Kryptonite

QUOTE #9:
Lois handed him his coffee, shook her head and said, "The sun just … blacked out! But why?"
EXCERPT #9:

When she finished relating this latest incident, Clark said, “Hold that thought,” stood up and strode to the secret compartment. After opening it he pulled out one of the uniforms and said, “Excuse me for a second.” He stepped into the bedroom. They heard a wind and then Superman stepped back into the living room.

Lois whispered in awe, “He’s back!”

Clark crossed to Lois and taking her in his arms kissed her and then said, “You brought me back. First, by loving Clark and now by telling me how I had rescued you as Superman, you rescued me. Mom, do you still have that SCUBA gear at the farm?”
O.K. This one drove me nuts because I *knew* I beta'd it for Ken. But the word count on the Kerth website puts it over the limit for this category. But if you use Ken's new word count, it fits.

Anyway it is::::::::::tah dah:::::Indeed a Nightfall story, Michael! (Add this after your post).
All Shook Up Matchmaker Style (264k) – byKenJ Needs the count to be corrected to 181K. I think likewise for all of Ken's stories that weren't on the Archive yet.
and finally:
QUOTE #10:
Jor-El grabbed the billionaire by the front of his shirt — ripping the fabric in the process and threw him bodily through the portal.
An Unexpected Visitor: Part One of the Visitor Trilogy By Morgana
Whew!!!
cool

I'm leaving town Friday for Phoenix and thus won't get to do more on the quizzes. It's always much harder for the long stories. I'll be reading to vote, though. (No, I'm not staying for the Superbowl! GOOOO SEAHAWKS!!!!)

I used Ken's revised k counts for all of his stories in the quizzes. The revised counts moved some of his stories to different size-based categories.

Hi Susan:
That's great about the revised counts for Ken's stories, but the list of Eligible Stories on the Kerth site could use fixing too.
That's what I missed. I used the Kerth site count. Maybe a revised story list could be put up.

wallbash So that's why I couldn't get it! I developed a list of stories of the appropriate length from which to choose, but I hadn't put Ken's All Shook Up on that list. I had been looking for an ASU-episode related story title, too, for quote and excerpt #9. Bummer!

Yes, imagine my consternation since I had beta'd the story. I thought senility had crept up on me!! grumble
So, since the Kerth site still has the "old" story length, here is what Ken posted for his word count.
Quote
PML - Matchmaker Style clock in at - 190 K
HiM - Matchmaker Style clock in at - 139 K
ASU - Matchmaker Style clock in at - 181 K
Witness - Matchmaker Style clock in at - 132 K
Illusions of Grandeur - Matchmaker Style clock in at - 122 K
Hattie and Mr. 'X' Matchmaker Chronicles Volume 1P clocks in at 213 K
Halloween in Metropolis - Matchmaker Chronicles Vol 1 CD 29 K
Thanksgiving in Smallville - Matchmaker Chronicles Vol 1 CE 28 K
I just checked and the list of Eligible Stories contains the original numbers for Ken's stories and Annette has said previously in a post that that is what they are going by, I guess we need a formal ruling or else change the numbers for Ken's stories that were not yet posted to the Archives.
The change is that all of Ken's stories in this list go to Mid-Length except for "Hattie and Mr. X".

I just noticed something and it is discouraging.

If you look at the list of participants in the quizzes you should notice something.

I think that Michael and Artemis are the only ones participating who don't have a story in the running and Artemis has a vested interest since she is one of my beta readers.

As a side note I don't see Tank's TOGOM 2014 on the list anywhere.

Actually, I had mine up in Q#1 jump

Labby mentioned that authors who'se story isn't yet archived need to put their story up explicitly.

As for the participants. The list fairly the same as from last year. Nancy is missing, though frown
