Hi everyone! smile1

The Kerth quizzes for 2010 are now being posted on the Yahoo list. The quizzes take a lot of effort to put together – researching stories to fit each category, finding quotes and excerpts, adding scores etc. The responses to the quizzes have been extremely poor. frown The Best Mid-Length had four and Best WAFFy has only two at the moment.

The quiz team would like your opinion. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tricia cool

frown I can't really place too many of the quotes, despite their familiarity but I definitively think they're fun!

On a related note, doing them on the boards, too, is a great idea. It makes it so much easier to respond blush

I'm sure that what I do is actually a very common practice.

I read most of the quizzes and try to remember what fic they came from, but I don't make any official guesses.

Why? I'm terrible at it, but it's fun to check them out anyway. It's also a way to maybe get interested in a fic that one may have missed along the way.

Hi Tricia,

I like the quizzes. This is only my 2nd year around so I have a limited experience with them.

I tried to participate in all of them last year with mixed success. This year, I have to admit that I did look at Quiz 1 and part of the reason for not participating was that I only recognized one story. We all need to get over being embarrassed at having trouble getting very many right.

For the WAFFY quiz, I kept going back to the eligible story list trying for inspiration. I spent well over an hour on the WAFFY quiz. Without that effort, I probably would have only gotten two right. (One of those being my own. smile )

I am always in awe at the time the quiz team puts into the quizzes. I would hate to see them go, but can certainly understand that the low participation can make the effort seem not-worth-the-trouble.

So, I would love to see them continue and will try to participate in all the rest, but if they go away I understand and thank you for the effort to bring together what you have.

Bob

I usually have a go at the quizzes in secret, and the main reason I never reply with my answers is that because my internet access has been so restricted, by the time I get to a quiz the answers have normally already been posted. Honestly, it has nothing to do with how little I recognise! wink blush

Still, we should be getting a broadband connection next weekend, so once that is up and running I promise to participate as often as I can!

I've had major problems with Yahoo Groups over the year and don't think that doing the quiz would be worth getting involved with them again. I'd be more interested if they were on the main site.

I selected "Other" for a reason to not participate. Principally, my memory is not that good of individual bits of a story. I've tried the quizzes in the past and found I would have to do immense research to give any answer. It all sounds familiar and I read all the stories, but I can't tie the quotes to a story. My second reason is like Marcus, I don't yahoo. I find it hard and obnoxious. I probably would try if the quizzes were on the board. Maybe you could try multiple choice?
Thanks for all your hard work. For getting greater interest in the Kerth's, it would seem reasonable to post the quizzes here.

Since I set my status to no mail on that list, I am obviously not getting emails and I can't seem to mind my log in either. I too would prefer the quizzes being posted here rather than on an email list.

Okay - you guys have NO REASON not to participate!

I fail amazingly well using just my memory.

Heck, I missed my own story this last go round and got a big fat 0 wink .

It's fun anyway.

Of course, this, apparently, is why Jenn roped me into being a quiz setter =D.

That's also why I said no I wouldn't participate more - because I already complete - with some degree of awesome failureness - virtually all of them smile .

Well, I didn't do the quizzes this year because too much of RL got in the way and the quizzes were almost over by the time I realized they were being sent out.

The Quizzes are over and done with for this year, Sayo. Although there's no reason why you couldn't give them a go on your own without sending in your answers. Still fun. And there's always next year.

You don't have to access them through Yahoo. You'll find them in the Fanfic Related folder. If you go here there's even a list with links to them all. Save you hunting them down individually.

Have fun!
