Okay, is anyone else seeing this, or is my computer special? It's hard to explain, but there's a time glitch between what my computer says ("real" time) and how the server time-stamps things -- about 15 minutes worth. If I send in a message at 10pm my time, it gets time-stamped as 10:15. And then when the program goes looking for new posts, it gets all confused at the posts that have future times on them! From my profile: The current server time is: July 01, 2003 07:59 PM Your computer time is: July 01, 2003 10:44 PM For local times, adjust to: 3 hours The server thinks it's 7:59 on the West Coast, so 10:59 here, but that's 15 minutes fast. As a work-around, I've changed my server time offset in my profile to 2 hours; so that posts seem to be 45 minutes old instead of 15 minutes in the future. (This message shows up stamped as 10:03pm, when my computer clock says 10:49.) This lets my browser keep them in order, but it's still kinda confusing. So I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed anything... PJ who has enough trouble keeping track of time without computer conspiracies to confuse her!

Oh, I have always had that, since day one. It varies from 10 to 20 min, although that may be the clock at my end. And I have given up on the new posts indicators reseting themselves. I just reset them manually when I get caught up.

Oh, I'm not worried about new post indicators -- I gave up on those a loooong time ago The thing that worries me is the way posts seem to disappear, at least temporarily... And this is a fairly new problem for me. Like I said, I've got a way to work around it. But I'm just wondering if this is anything that needs to be fixed anywhere... PJ

Looks like it may getting worse: Time Adjustment The current server time is: July 02, 2003 07:20 AM Your computer time is: July 02, 2003 10:02 AM For local times, adjust to: 3 hours May want to check with the server admin people on this one!

Is the time difference always changing (every time you log in), or is it constant?
What I just tried to do was put a fractioned time difference, since my computer's clock is less than two hours difference from the server (12:33 here and 10:49 on the server at the moment). I set the time difference for 1.7 hours, which is 1 hour and 42 minutes, while the actual difference is about 1 hour and 44 minutes today.
It seems it worked. The time was pretty close to my computer's time (difference of a couple of minutes), which is good enough for me.
I just hope the server's time doesn't get changed too much every day, or I would need to change my profile frequently.

Sounds like a great idea, Malu! Thanks Let's see when it thinks this post is posted... Yay, it worked! At least, it's a lot closer than it used to be. Close enough for government work PJ

Thanks, malu! -.3 did the trick here in the Pacific time zone.

Rivka,
I'm also on Pacific timezone. -0.3 put my post timestamps three minutes behind. -0.2 put me one minute ahead. So I'm sticking with -0.2.
My machine is synchronized with a time server, while apparently the MBS host server is not.

Just to make sure, I'm trying one more time.
[EDIT]: OK, it's now 2 minutes ahead with -0.2.

Maybe someone could suggest to the UBB developers to include not just hours in the time zone difference, but minutes, too. That way, anyone could synchronize the boards to their own computer time without worrying about decimal points or being ahead or behind a few minutes. malu

Roger, I think I'd rather live in the past than the future. I like surprises. Too bad it won't allow more decimal places!
