smile1 As we've said before, the more nominations submitted, the better fun for everyone, so even if you've never taken part in this stage of the process before, do consider giving it a try this year. You can nominate in as many or as few categories as you like.

When you're ready to nominate, head over to the nominations form here Fill in the form, click Submit, and you're done. It couldn't be easier. A big thank you to Annette for updating the website. clap

Please remember that nominating and voting can only be done by FoLCs. Family, friends and work colleagues cannot nominate or vote.

We can't wait to hear from you. smile

Do you have a list of stories for each category?

You'll find the list of eligible stories here.

Which cat you nominate them in is entirely your choice. Just make sure you apply the rules for each cat - k count/theme - and the rest is up to you.

Have fun. wink

whinging At the moment it would be impossible to have the Kerth Awards. Reason: Lack of nominations! devilsplat

Please consider nominating even if it's only one story or one category. There a few days left before nominations close so choose your favourite stories and fill in the form. It's easy!

I did it on the first day, I hope you got it Tricia. I added more than one story in each category, so if it is not acceptable let me know, I will do it again. cool

I hadn't made any nominations this year because I haven't read many stories. Some of the stories I have read are definitely nomination-worthy, but I felt that to nominate them might be to do a disservice to other, unread-by-me, stories which might have been even more deserving of a nomination.

If I were to nominate story A, would that lessen the chances of story B being included on the ballot? In other words, would all nominated stories appear on the ballot, or only the ones which received the most nominations?

Thanks,
Lynn

I was reading the rules (well, the FAQ) and it says only the stories with the most nominations get on the ballot. Does that mean if a favorite author who everybody reads gets 15 nominations but a newbie who only gets two nominations, being that their stories haven't been read a much, doesn't? If only five stories were nominated, the top contender getting 15 nominations and the lowest only two, I would hope that both stories would be included and the story with only 2 nominations wouldn't be dropped from the list. I had thought last year that one needed at least 2 nominations for a story to be nominated, which is why I double checked the FAQ, when Lynn asked her question. I ask this, because the FAQ says that the top 10 will be on the ballot, though in past years I believe it was only the top 5. Did I misread this?

I also read that a story can only be nominated in three categories. Good to know. I don't think I have any stories in 4 on my list, but I know several have hit at least 3 categories.

I'm sure people will be sure to read ALL the stories in a category before you do your final voting (just to be fair), right? laugh

EDIT: I have most of my list compiled, I was hoping for news on KB count for some of the stories which hadn't made it to the Archives yet, so I knew if it counted as a "Super Short", "Short", or "Mid-Length".

Okay, extrapolated from past years:

Categories with lots of stories get longer nominee-list than those with less stories. Usually, the list is at least 5 entries long but it won't exceed 10.

I don't think 4 nominations get filtered on the nomination but I read once that a story won't show up on the official nominee-list more than 3 times. If a story gets most nominations in four categories, K-com excludes one category.

Dunno, how many different nominations a story needs to be included in the nomination list.

Also, if you haven't read a story, please, still nominate from those you have read. Yes, it's possibly unfair to newer authors, but even fewer FoLCs have read all stories posted. So, if you don't nominate there's no nominations help , then there's no Kerths eek , and then, then there's wave Michael, who will do his civic duty over the weekend.

Hi!

Board newbie here wink

Thanks to Deadly Chakram, I now have the list of eligible, and will be sorting and reading and (hopefully) nominating this weekend!

I predict a lack of sleep over the next 4 days....

Hi everyone! smile1

Stories can only be included on the ballot in two categories plus the overall. By nominating a story it does not mean it will automatically be on the ballot. Stories need to achieve a certain number of nominations first. The number depends on the number of stories nominated in a particular category and how many people nominated each of them.

Whoops! I skipped over this part in the instructions. Sorry.

I made some nominations, but have to confess that I haven't read every single story this year. I apologize in advance to those authors whose stories I haven't read and therefore couldn't nominate.

Yeah, I missed that part too, Io. Not sure I actually nominated any stories for more than 2 categories though. Still, I'll have to bear that in mind next year.

Anyway, all voted and eagerly awaiting round 2 of the vote, and encouraging you all to vote as well!

dizzy I need to clarify something. FoLCs can nominate stories in as many categories as they like. A story can only be in two categories plus overall on the final ballot.

I just discovered that "Clark & Lois The Lost Years" is not on the list. It is Volume 3 of the Matchmaker Chronicles and was begun on March 16, 2012. It has 46 chapters and is a real plot gripper, dealing with Alt-Clark's search for his Lois. So I suggest it be eligible for this years Kerths. Ken wrote the volumes in order, so this was just overlooked. It is on the Fanfic TOCs.

Artemis
Forget what I said. It is on the additional list. It's a long one, so enjoy.

Artemis, as I understand it, unfortunately a story cannot be added to the list after the noms have opened. And only the author can have them added to the list before that.

ETA: I see it was added previously after all.

Hi LabRat:
Yes, I knew all that but it was just my tired eyes that didn't see it. Like speaking before you think, it was posting before you think in my case. Anyways, all is good. When I discovered my error, I could have removed my post before many FoLCs saw that. But then, when posts are removed I always wonder what they said. So I just edited it.

Just a reminder for the gentle FoLCs outside the US. Summertime started last night in the US, so you'll have to be an hour early if you're elsewhere.

I definitely went through and nominated. There were a bunch that I've really loved and have re-read several times over. I wish I'd had time to read more of the eligible stories though. I had no idea there were so many. (I'm going to have a very busy summer, I see.)

On a side note, and I'm sure I've just overlooked it in a post somewhere, but I'm scattered and ridiculously busy with this terrible institution, called college, that holds me hostage 5 days a week and its evil partner, the library... so I'm going to be that annoying person who asks a question that is probably already answered: When is the award 'show'?
