Just out of curiosity (since we've already covered Lois' lack of a middle name and Perry and Clark's shared middle name - Jerome), does anyone remember if Jimmy's middle name is ever mentioned? Ooooh. What's that episode where he and Cat check their family tree? I just watched it? (I wish I could say this narrowed down my titles but it hasn't ) Was it the Rival? Was it mentioned there? Well, anyway, if anyone knows Jimmy's full name, that would be helpful. Thanks!

Bartholomew - It's mentioned when he is arrested in Lucky Leon.

He also says it in Never On Sunday when he's being hypnotized. Then Perry leans over and mouths it to Lois and Clark like he's never heard it before. Perry forgets in his old age, apparently. lol

I wish I would have seen this earlier. It's especially easy for me to remember Jimmy's middle name since my son's name is James. I got permission from my son to share a photo from a few years back: James Bartholomew Olsen: James Bartholomew (Not Olsen): Bob

Bobbart! He's adorable and would make a great Jimmy Olsen. Does anyone remember if S1 Jimmy mentions his middle name at any time? Maybe someone who's watched "Foundling" recently? <<batting eyelashes>> If not, !

Bobbart - that's just awesome! How adorable! Virginia - I don't *think* his middle name is ever mentioned in Season One. I'm *almost* positive we don't hear it used until "Lucky Leon."

Virginia, the only two mentions of the name "Bartholomew" occur in Lucky Leon and Never on Sunday.
Bob, I agree with Virginia -- both about him being cute and about him making a great Jimmy Olsen.

I will pass the complements along to my son. (And make sure his wife - he's a bit older now - hears them. ) I was not following any Superman when my son was born and - since I was there - I can say with certainty that Superman's Jimmy Olsen had nothing to do with his name. Ever since I saw that picture for the first time - with the boyish smile and the red hair - I've thought that he looked like Jimmy Olsen made flesh. Bob

Okay, I've changed the topic of this thread from "Jimmy's Middle Name" to "All Things Jimmy" because I have another non-name related question, and why start another thread? :p
Does anyone remember whether or not Jimmy's mom lives in Vegas is canon or Fanon. I know I've read it some fanfic stories, but it always felt right. Does Jimmy mention this about his mom when he talks about buying her a birthday gift in "Madame Ex" (Besides her being overweight and having allergies)?

Virginia - It's canon! It took me some doing, but I figured it *had* to be mentioned in a Christmas episode. And it was! Now, to be fair it doesn't say that she lives there. Just that she wants to see him there. Home Is Where The Hurt Is: FADE IN:
1 INT. DAILY PLANET - WITH PERRY - TRACKING - DAY #1 1
PERRY moves down the steps from vending machines, sipping coffee, reading a letter with a smile. All around the bullpen, Staffers are hanging garlands and Christmas decorations. He runs into JIMMY, loaded with files.
PERRY (re letter) How about that? My son wants me to go skiing in Vermont with him for the holidays. What're _you_ doin' for Christmas?
JIMMY My mom mentioned meeting her in Vegas.
PERRY (as they pass Lois' desk) That's what the holidays are about, bein' with family.
LOIS (under her breath) Long as it's not my family.

Thanks, DC, for all your extra work hunting that down for me. You know, I don't think the shrink wrap is off my S4 DVDs yet. I really should get around to looking at those one of these days.

If we wish to go outside the L&C-verse, the name can be trace back at least to 1955's Action Comics #203 (at least, according to the Supermanica web page). Joy, Lynn

About where Jimmy's mom lives, to me "Let's meet in Vegas" implies that neither of them actually lives there. His mom is not inviting him home for Christmas, but to have a Christmas vacation together.
FWIW,
Happy

He is a cutie. He is almost as cute as S1 Jimmy, Michael Landes.

I know I saw this mentioned in another thread but, for the life of me, couldn't find it.
Was the first time Jimmy and Superman meet (that we see) in PML when Superman rescues Jimmy from his bad judgement for stepping in front of the truck when the model tells him 'no'?

I always assumed his Mom was going on vacation to Vegas and wanted Jimmy to come to, but the line is ambiguous enough that it could indicate she lives there.
On Jimmy and Superman meeting, he is there snapping pictures as Superman flies Lois to her desk (after a flight where they did not talk, but I guess Lois is not paying attention to such clues) but I guess that is not meeting. He has the Superman call watch in GGGoH, but it is Clark, not Superman, who tells him to turn it off. One of the very common opening credits scenes is of Lois and Jimmy being flown through the air from the pilot, but the is before Superman is invented and Clark is able to convince Lois it is a result of being pushed by the explosion. So, I think the rescuing Jimmy from being hit by the truck might be the first time when Superman and Jimmy actually interact. Clark hears his second use of the watch, but does not make it to him, either as Clark or as Superman.
