Okay, let's see: For breakfast, I had an egg and toast and some pastry. For lunch, ooops, skipped lunch. For dinner, pork chops, rice and salad and crem brule tartlettes (sometimes it's nice being married to chef)

Quotes:
1. - "Aussie Rules Bet" -Tank
2. - I think the quote is from canon, so it could be in lots of stories as is, but I'm going with "Revelations" - MozartMaid
3. ??
4. - "What is Eternal" - Deadly Chakram
5. - "A Boy in Kimono" - Mary Potts (Queen of Capes)
6. - "Award Winning Story" - Alisha Knight
7. - "Thanksgiving Games" - Lynn S.M.
8. - ??
9. - "Going her Way" - Anonpip
10. - "A Small Trap" - Richard Franz Jr.
11. - "Not Even Chocolate" - Mouserocks
12. - "A (Super) Brief Paws in the Heroic Life of Clark Kent" - Deja Vu
13. - "The Agent and the Admiral" - Artemis
14. - "Little Boy Blue" - Lynn S.M. (Yep, she's here twice)
15. - "Game, Set, Match" - Dandello
16. - "Just a Little Too Far" and/or "Just a Little Too Much" - Me! (Either guess would be correct because both stories have the same beginning, just different endings and this quote is from the beginning of both stories)
17. - "Man of the House" - Muffin
18. - "No Greater Love" - Happy Girl
19. - "The Ring" - Morgana
20. - "Soul Mates" - SciFi Joan Powers

Excerpts:
3. I don't think I've read this one. help
5. - Okay, my above guess was wrong, so I'm going with "That's Who He is" - AntiKryptonite
7. - right author, wrong story. This should be "Echolalia" by Lynn S.M. (You'd have thought I'd have gotten this from the quote being a Beta and all wallbash )
8. - "Fallout" - Molly
14. - Opps. THIS is "A Boy in Kimono" - Mary Potts (Queen of Capes)
16. - the excerpt is also from the beginning section of both my stories, so my answer still stands.

Great quiz. Very difficult. I'm glad I've been keeping up on my reading. laugh

18. Okay, let’s try No Greater Love by HappyGirl.

What a super-long quiz, Nancy! Thanks so much for the fun!

thud Michael

PS: Yes, I know, that last line would have worked much better in the super-short category.

Do I get any bonus points for noticing that you probable cut and pasted the rules from the BNA quiz? The reason I make that deduction is that the following line was included:

Quote
SPIFFY DISCLAIMER THINGY! All the stories featured in this quiz qualify for the Best New Author, but this quiz is not a stamp of recommendation for nomination.
All right, here goes nothing...

From the quotes:

2) This sounds familiar, but I'm not placing it. Something by Anti-Kryptonite?
7) Thank you for including my "Echolalia" in this quiz. It has a special place in my heart.
10) "Letting the Cat out of the Bag," by Classicalla.
12) "A (Super)Brief Paws in the Heroic Life of Clark Kent," by Deja Vu
14) "The Boy in Kimono," by Mary Potts (AKA Queen of the Capes)
15) "Hunt in a Red October," by Deadly Chakram?
18) "Distraught," by Mouserocks?
20) "Lights, Camera...Boo!" by Tank Wilson

From the excerpts (only changed guesses are included):
3) This definitely sounds like something from VirginiaR. Not sure which story, though. I'll guess, "Just a Little Too Much."
19) I should have gotten it from the quote. "The Ring," by Morgana

Thank you, Classicalla, for a fun quiz. And thanks again to all the quiz writers. clap

Yeesh, I thought I fixed that. No, you don't get extra points for that. But figure out which story I GE'd and you do get extra points. (It's right in the intro of the story. And no, it wasn't one of yours. laugh )

But remember to PM me or email me if you figure out which story I speak of.

Oh well. It was worth a shot. With the way I did on this quiz, I need every point I can get blush

I'm afraid I don't know it off-hand. And although I know that the rules say we may look over stories in the archive with the intent to answer questions, that still feels a bit like cheating to me. (My sense of guilt has a tendency to rival Clark's at times.)

Nope. A while back I posted my answers and even with my spoiler line, my first answer still showed up on "Today's Active Topics" and since I don't know Latin (or how to fake it wink ) having studied Ancient Greek instead... I went with a laundry list of my meals.

When I described Martha's Chocolate Fudge Merange Pie in GEM - THAT was me trying to make the reader hungry. laugh

It's not cheating, Lynn. I promise. The only way anyone (except for the author in question) could get the answer is if they check the archive.

Quotes

#3: I think I've read this one but I can't place it.

#9: Oooh, I've read this one! It's the one that describes a day in Lois's life before and after Clark. But I'm blanking out on the title and author. I'll say it's by mozartmaid, but I'm probably wrong.

#11: Pretty sure I've read this one, too.

#19: The Ring by Morgana.

Excerpts

#3: Got it now! Rumors by Bob Bartholomew.

#11: I think this excerpt is forcing me to say it's Not Even Chocolate by Mouserocks, although I'm not even sure that one falls into Short. Or, that's not it and you chose a chocolatey excerpt to confuse us!

#12: Ooooh, I've read this one too! Um. It has a title that must be a reference to something I don't quite recognize. Something like "A Dog's Life", but fancier. And who could the author be? I want to say Lynn S. M., but I'm probably wrong.

(I know the quiz is open-book, but I like to test my memory. laugh )

Thank you for a fun quiz, Nancy! I love long quizzes. smile

Okay, from the quotes...

8. Fallout by molly (would be highly embarrassed if I'd missed this!)
18. No Greater Love by Happygirl smile

From the excerpts...

7. Echolalia(sp?) by Lynn SM!

And that's all I've got, even though several sound so familiar....

16. Just a Little Too Far Virginia R.
17. Man of the House Muffin
18. No Greater Love HappyGirl
19. The Ring Morgana
20. Soul Mates Joan Powers

First, since Virginia pointed out that Just a Little Too Far and Just a Little Too Much had the same quote in them, I'm counting either answer as correct. Bad me for not realizing that.

If you got just the author or just the story, I gave you ½ the points.

Anna, I double checked Not Even Chocolate and it does meet criteria for a short story - it's around 13 KB.

Nobody took a guess on the story I edited. It was No Greater Love by HappyGirl.

Thank you Lynn for guessing my little story, but it wasn't long enough for this category. =}

Shiny stars to Anti-Kryptonite, Virginia R., Lynn S.M., Deadly Chakram, and Mouserocks for recognizing their own stories!

For this round, Anti-Kryptonite has the lead with 34 points!
Virginia R. comes in right behind Anti-K with 33 points.
And right on Virginia's heels, Deadly Chakram has 31 points.
4th place goes to Female Hawk with 26 ½ points.
5th goes to Darth Michael with 23 points.
6th place goes to Ultra Woman with 21 ½ points. (I gave you 1 ½ points on the first one for not quite getting the story name correct.)
7th place goes to Mouserocks with 14 points.
Lynn comes in 8th place with 7 points.
9th place goes to LNCroxmysox with 5 points.
And, last but certainly not least, is Anna with 4 points.

And the grand totals are:

* AntiKryptonite, who has wowed us all, has an amazing 186.5 points. Congratulations on coming in first overall!!
* VirginiaR remains in second place with an awesome 136 points!
* Deadly Chakram claims third place with an impressive 129 points.
* Female Hawk comes in a respectable 4th place with 118 points.
* Ultra Woman comes in 5th with 92 points.
* Lynn S. M. comes in 6th place with her 72.5 points.
* Darth Michael pulls ahead of Classicalla with 66.5 points and takes 7th place.
* Classicalla continues with 51 points for 8th place. I'm going to give AntiKryptonite a run for her money next year.
* Mouserocks moves into 9th place with 33.5 points!
* scifiJoan takes 10th place with 30.5 points.
* Anna B. the Greek comes in 11th 11.5 points
* and LNCroxmysox remains in last place but went from 1 point to 6. Great effort!!

If I got any of the scores wrong, be sure to let me know!

And here are the recommendations I received:

The Accident by Tank Wilson
A Boy in Kimono by Mary Potts
Fallout by Molly
Gofer No More? by Lynn S. M.
The Last Son of El by Deadly Chakram
Lighter Than Air, Better Than Gravity by Anti-Kryptonite

Rumors by Bob Bartholomew
Save This Dance for Me: A Lois & Clark Valentine’s Day Fairy Tale by Bob Bartholomew
