smile1 As we've said before, the more nominations submitted, the better fun for everyone, so even if you've never taken part in this stage of the process before, do consider giving it a try this year. You can nominate in as many or as few categories as you like, and you can read more about the nomination process here

When you're ready to nominate, head over to the nominations form here (This will be ready soon.) Fill in the form, click Submit, and you're done. It couldn't be easier. clap

Please remember that nominating and voting can only be done by FoLCs. Family, friends and work colleagues cannot nominate or vote.

We can't wait to hear from you. smile

I'm a newbie as to how all this works... how many stories should/may we enter per category?

There is no limit to the number of stories you can nominate for each category. Please remember to take note of size restrictions. laugh

I'd like to remind everyone, but especially the new members of the boards, that nominating a story does not communicate that you dislike other stories or authors. It just means that you think the story you've nominated deserves recognition. No one will believe that you're dissing another work or another writer.

So nominate away! Nominate early and often! Let your voice be heard! This community is, after all, a democratic one where the Kerths are concerned.

Life isn't a support system for writing. It's the other way around.

Which of her stories are also eligible for this year's Kerths?

According to the archive it was only uploaded this month, but AntiKryptonite submitted it in December. Doesn't this mean that it isn't eligible because it has only been available to read this year, not in 2010? huh

Yes, it's the upload date that's the important one, not the submissions date. So, on the face of it, this one isn't eligible until next year. Unless it was posted, complete, somewhere other than the Archive before January 1st, 2011 - say a personal website or the mbs. But I'm not sure that this one was.

K-Comm would have to confirm, of course, but as far as I know, it's not eligible. Unless I've missed it being posted elsewhere, of course.

dance Please remember nominations close Sunday 13 March at 11.59pm.

It would be a pity if your favourite story missed out. frown All nominations even for one or two stories are very welcome.

As LabRat pointed out, AntiKryptonite is not eligible this year. Her stories were not uploaded till January. She will be eligible for the New Author category next year.

For us newbies, how does this work again? Do we post nominations to this board or to the Kerth site? Is there a list reminding us of the categories on that site? Thanks!

Hi Joan:
You vote on the Kerth site. Go here: http://www.kerthawards.com/2011noms.html

There is a form to fill out and vote on. It is then sent automatically to the Kerth admins and you get an immediate e-mail repeating all your choices so you have a record when the rest of the process happens.

Here's a bit of advice: Copy the form onto your computer in Word (or whatever word processor you use) and take time to list all your favorites in the various categories. Simply type your choices above the boxes.

If you run out of ideas or get confused, the Kerth Quizzes are a great help. I copied all the answers and bounced them off my own list.

Then when you get ready to nominate, go back to the Kerth site and put in your name and e-mail and simply copy your list for each category into the boxes. (Tip: when you make your lists, hit enter between each story. Include name of story and author.) This way you don't get confused between categories.

The voting works the same way.

Remember: The deadline is this weekend Don't wait until Sunday midnight. And in the US this is Daylight Saving Sunday.

Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to ask more questions. I'll be hanging around this weekend.
regards
Artemis
P.S. I've already nominated, so I can testify the system is working. Oh, and another point, if you are stumped about a category, don't panic. You don't have to fill everything out. Put in what you are confident about. And don't be shy about listing your own stories.

Definitely yes. Five in each category is the usual number they will put forth for voting. That's when it is down to one and they have a winner. I had at least 10 in each category and the same story nominated in more than one category. For instance "Best Episode" and "Best Revelation."

I submitted some nominations today so I wouldn't miss the deadline. If I want to submit some more if I have time, can I do that?

Oh, that's a problem. I would suggest e-mailing those directly to TriciaW and asking her to add them to your list. The software will deny you the ability to file another form, if I recall correctly (IIRC). That's why I used the "copy the form" system, so I have several days to think of it all. The follow on stuff still has to be before Sunday midnight.
To send to her, just use the little icon with 2 people and an envelope on it on her e-mail at the top of this thread.
Although you can be encouraged that other FoLCs might have nominated the same story. The hardest category in my humble opinion (IMHO) is the "Best Overall" category.
Best wishes
Artemis

Another important reminder. The Kerth nomination deadline is for midnight eastern time in the U.S. That is 9 p.m. Pacific Time .
