This seems to be the season for lost fics. The one I'm looking for was an alternate beginning to an AU Superman fic. This Clark was involved in Europe with a woman who turned out to be a thief and was killed in a warehouse in the south of France(?). He had hidden his powers all his life and had his heart broken because he felt he was duped by this woman. Then he comes to Metropolis and stays at the Apollo. Then there is an alternate take on the pilot. I don't know that the story was ever finished. If so, I didn't read the ending and would like to finish reading it. Ring any bells for anyone?
Hopefully,
Artemis

Hi, Artemis. Is it Some Things are Meant to Be by Deja Vu? I know that I started it, but can't remember finishing - another to-do for year-end. But all chapters are listed here in the TOC.

Hi Kathy:
Wow, that looks great and I haven't read it. Yes, it would be great to see it finished, but sadly that's not the one I'm thinking of.
The one I'm thinking of is in the third person. Clark starts out in the Apollo amidst a thunder and lightning storm and he reflects on why he can't help any more. He remembers the gal in the past in a hotel on the Riviera and how she came on to him and turns out to be a criminal.
Thanks for the tip, though.
regards

OK, I'm pretty sure that this one is what you're looking for. And this one, sadly, was never finished.
