So, I'm in the middle of several stories right now (my muse has a multiple personality thing) and I'm continually struck by songs that 'just go' with what I'm writing. I'm wondering if this happens to anyone else (other than the obvious songfics) and if they'd like to share? I also found myself reading several fanfics and then hearing some of my favorite or new songs thinking...that would go perfectly with so and so's story. For example (hoping Yvonne doesn't mind the free plug) after reading Yvonne's Addicted , the next time I heard the song "It's Been Awhile" by Staind, I could see her alt-Clark as a perfect match to the lyrics. "It's Been Awhile" Staind (lyrics from Lyrics.com -though I did edit for content) And it's been awhile Since I could hold my head up high And it's been awhile Since I first saw you And it's been awhile Since I could stand on my own two feet again And it's been awhile Since I could call you And everything I can't remember As [messed] up as it all may seem The consequences that I've rendered I've stretched myself beyond my means And it's been awhile Since I can say that I wasn't addicted And it's been awhile Since I can say I love myself as well And it's been awhile Since I've gone and [messed] things up just like I always do And it's been awhile But all that [stuff] seems to disappear when I'm with you And everything I can't remember As [messed] up as it all may seem The consequences that I've rendered I've gone and [messed] things up again Why must I feel this way? Just make this go away Just one more peaceful day! And it's been awhile Since I could look at myself straight And it's been awhile Since I said I'm sorry And it's been awhile Since I've seen the way the candle lights your face And it's been awhile But I can still remember just the way you taste And everything I can't remember As [messed] up as it all may seem to be I know it's me I cannot blame this on my father He did the best he could for me And it's been awhile Since I could hold my head up high And it's been awhile Since I said I'm sorry For anyone that hasn't heard it, it sung with angst and anger...great song. I reccomend it. I can list other songs and fics...but I thought I'd give others a chance first, if anyone's interested. Sara

When I was BRing "City By the Sea" for Stopquitdont, I kept thinking of this song:
Beyond the Sea - Bobby Darin
Somewhere beyond the sea, Somewhere, waiting for me, My lover stands on golden sands And watches the ships that go sailing;
Somewhere beyond the sea, She's there watching for me. If I could fly like birds on high, Then straight to her arms I'd go sailing.
It's far beyond a star, It's near beyond the moon, I know beyond a doubt My heart will lead me there soon.
We'll meet beyond the shore, We'll kiss just as before. Happy we'll be beyond the sea, And never again I'll go sailing!
I absolutely think of or associate songs to what I'm writing at the moment. My current W.I.P. "Hide and Seek" (coming SOON :p ) kept reminding me of several Sheryl Crow songs ("Can't Cry Anymore," "Strong Enough," "Safe and Sound") - I listened to the CD and couldn't help but find parallels to what I was writing. --Wanda
"He's a man. I'm a woman. Do you want me to draw you a diagram?" -Lois Lane, I've Got a Crush on You.

I rarely think of music when I write, but one of my favorite Sinatra songs is "Come Fly With Me," and I think that'd be a great one for Lois & Clark.
I believe there's a hero in all of us that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady and give up the thing we want the most. Even our dreams. -- Aunt May, Spider-Man 2

When I was writing The Butterfly Legacy, I had about a dozen songs that fit different sections and scenes. I had them on a playlist on my computer and listened to them loop over and over. But two songs pretty much summed up the entire story for me. The first song is pretty popular, at least here in the US. It's Train's "When I Look to the Sky". The way I interpret the lyrics are all about how people we love and lose are still there to provide us with strength. The second song that I played endlessly is a little less known - Bob Seger's "Living Inside My Heart." I kind of renamed it "Gillian's Theme" in my head because it so well represented the way I imagined Sam/Clark came to feel about Gillian. Livin' Inside My Heart - Bob Seger
When the sun came up this morning And she smiled her smile for me I felt it for the first time Something deep inside of me
So you can take your midnight ramblin', boys And you can keep your winding roads She's livin' inside my heart now, Livin' inside
Oh there's an easiness about her There's a softness in her way But she gets me through the hard times We get closer everyday
I know I'll never be alone now, boys Cause even if I'm far away She's livin' inside my heart now, Livin' inside, yeah
And I don't know what I did to deserve her But I'll tell you this, my friend I'm never gonna lose her Never gonna lose her
Cause every night She's livin' inside my heart now, Livin' insideMusic pays a huge role when I'm writing. It sets mood and lyrics speak to me. Every story I've ever written has a soundtrack I associate with it. Lynn

I lately associated Becky Bain's 'Ad Astra Per Aspera' with 'Don't Cry' by Guns N' Roses: Talk to me softly There's something in your eyes Don't hang your head in sorrow And please don't cry I know how you feel inside I've I've been here before Somethin's changin' inside you And don't you know
Don't you cry tonight I still love you baby Don't you cry tonight Don't you cry tonight There's a heaven above you baby And don't you cry tonight
Give me a whisper And give me a sigh Give me a kiss before you tell me goodbye Don't you take it so hard now And please don't take it so bad I'll still be thinking of you And the times we had... baby
Don't you cry tonight Don't you cry tonight Don't you cry tonight There's a heaven above you baby And don't you cry tonight
And please remember that I never lied And please remember how I felt inside now honey You gotta make it your own way But you'll be alright now sugar You'll feel better tomorrow Come the morning light now baby
And don't you cry tonight...
They match, if not perfectly, nicely enough. And I just love both the song and the fic! There are also fics that are named after a song or that have a very close association with one, i.e. Kaethel's My Immortal and Wendy Richard's 'Poison' (I just can't listen to this song without thinking of the fic anymore!). Yvonne's Addicted brings to my mind Britney Spears's 'Toxic' (...I'm addicted to you, don't you know that you're toxic...)As for fics of my own? Well, there's always Forever You <G> Interesting topic! See ya, AnnaBtG. P.S.: Since the Archive is down, I only gave the links to the stories I could find on the boards.

Lately, everything that I started writing is inspired by a song. My last story came from Delta Goodrem's Lost Without You . And another one just had a song as a title. Most of the idea's I have in my mind, come from a song one way or the other. There are a few I've played over and over lately. One is from a Dutch artist. But my most favorite curretnly is from the new Corrs album: Summer Sunshine. Everyone's changing, I stay the same I'm... a solo cello outside a chorus I've got a secret, it's time for me to tell it You've been keeping me warm
To sweet beginnings and bitter endings In coffee city, we borrowed heaven Don't give it back, I've never felt so wanted Are you taking me home?
You tell me you have to go...
In the heat of summer sunshine I miss you like nobody else In the heat of summer sunshine I'll kiss you, and nobody needs to know
Now that you've loved me, there's no returning I keep comparing, you're always winning I try to be strong but you'll never be more wanted Will you make me at home?
Don't tell me you have to go
In the heat of summer sunshine I miss you like nobody else In the heat of summer sunshine I'll kiss you, and nobody needs to know
To sweet beginnings and bitter endings In coffee city, we borrowed heaven Don't give it back winter is coming And I need to stay warm
In the heat of summer sunshine I miss you like nobody else In the heat of summer sunshine I'll kiss you, and nobody knows
In the heat of summer sunshine I miss you like nobody else In the heat of summer sunshine I'll kiss you, and nobody needs to know I'm not sure how that's going to fit with a fic yet, but I'll figure it out at some point soon. Saskia

I have two songs that I've been thinking a lot about lately...The first one reminds me a lot of season one...Clark being a shadow to his god-like creation, Lois ignoring Clark, Lex Luthor...so I tend to associate with a lot of those kinds of re-writes...
Superman's Dead by Our Lady Peace
Do you worry that you're not liked/ How long till you break/ Happy cause you smile/ But how much can you fake? An ordinary boy, an ordinary name/ But ordinary's just not good enough today/
Alone I'm thinking/ Why is superman dead/ Is it in my head/ We'll just laugh instead/ You worry about the weather and/ Whether or not you should hate/
Are you worried about your faith/ Kneel down and obey/ You're happy you're in love/ You need someone to hate/ An ordinary girl, and ordinary ways/ But ordinary's just not good enough today/ Doesn't anyone know that the world's a subway
And then the other song reminds me of New Krypton stories, I suppose...except for the bridge at the end which goes back to BatP and all that...
Hero by Chad Kroeger
I am so high, I can hear heaven I am so high, I can hear heaven Oh, but heaven...no, heaven don't hear me
And they say That a hero could save us I'm not gonna stand here and wait I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles Watch as we all fly away
Someone told me Love would all save us But, how can that be Look what love gave us
A world full of killing And blood spilling That world never came
And they say That a hero could save us I'm not gonna stand here and wait I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles Watch as we all fly away
Now that the world isn't ending It's love that I'm sending to you It isn't the love of a hero And that's why I fear it won't do
And they say That a hero could save us I'm not gonna stand here and wait I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles Watch as we all fly away
And they're watching us They're watching us As we all fly away

I had this one song that played through my head pretty constantly while I was writing When the World Finds Out.
It's Island in the Sun by Weezer, and is this really bouncy, light-hearted...well...sunny little song. Lyrics like:
Let's run away together. Let's spend some time forever...
And it's completely ironic. Not to give anything away- though the title is a bit telling- but Lois and Clark are on an island following a big, nasty wham. It is anything but a fun, breezy get away for them. And yet, as soon as Clark Kent opens his eyes that first day and hears the ocean, the opening bars of this song start to play...well, in my head...but still.
And whenever I needed to get back on the island and see what the characters were doing, that's pretty much all it took. Weezer.
Go figure.
CC's two cents.

Every single fic I write is associated, more or less obviously, with a song. Sometimes it's listening to a song that sparks off an idea; sometimes I start writing and a song pops into my head that just fits with what I want to convey; sometimes it's a little of both. The thing is, I always write with music on - and since I usually spend more time singing along than typing words, you now know why I'm such a terribly slow writer... Current one? Or should I say, current one*s*? Evanescence's My Immortal (which has been an obsession with me for over six months), B*Witched's To You I Belong (since it's sort of inspirational for my current WIP), Barry Manilow's This One's For You, Meat Loaf's Two Out of Three Ain't Bad, S Club 7's Never Had a Dream Come True, Liberty X's Everybody Cries, and a few French songs (mostly Elodie Frege and Michal's Viens Jusqu'Ć Moi and Elodie Frege's Je n'ai pas de Remords). Freak, me? Absolutely. And proud of it! Kaethel ps: Anna, thanks for the plug!
- I'm your partner. I'm your friend. - Is that what we are? - Oh, you know what? I don't know what we are. We kiss and then we never talk about it. We nearly die frozen in each other's arms, but we never talk about it, so no, I got no clue what we are.

CC Aiken's latest story - this song sums it up for me: Turn the page, Bob Seger. Take out the whole "musician aspect" of it all, and you get that lonely isolation that Clark feels. Instead of the same old cliche, is that a woman or a man - it's other stupid cliche's (imagine what they talk about. Imagine what he hears? The horror!)
Turn the Page Words and Music by Bob Seger On a long and lonesome highway East of Omaha You can listen to the engine moanin' out his one note song You can think about the woman or the girl you knew the night before But your thoughts will soon be wandering the way they always do When you're ridin' sixteen hours and there's nothin' much to do And you don't feel much like ridin', you just wish the trip was through Here I am On the road again There I am Up on the stage Here I go Playin' star again There I go Turn the page Well you walk into a restaurant, strung out from the road And you feel the eyes upon you as you're shakin' off the cold You pretend it doesn't bother you but you just want to explode Most times you can't hear 'em talk, other times you can All the same old cliches, "Is that a woman or a man?" And you always seem outnumbered, you don't dare make a stand Here I am On the road again There I am Up on the stage Here I go Playin' star again There I go Turn the page Out there in the spotlight you're a million miles away Every ounce of energy you try to give away As the sweat pours out your body like the music that you play Later in the evening as you lie awake in bed With the echoes from the amplifiers ringin' in your head You smoke the day's last cigarette, rememberin' what she said Here I am On the road again There I am Up on the stage Here I go Playin' star again There I go Turn the page Here I am On the road again There I am Up on the stage Here I go Playin' star again There I go There I go

And mine? Long Strange Trip? I imagine this song from Lois's perspective in regards to Clark
Alanis Morrisette's "Everything" Everything
I can be an ***hole of the grandest kind I can withold like it's going out of style I can be the moodiest baby And you've never met anyone As negative as I am sometimes
I am the wisest woman you've ever met I'm the kindest soul with whom you've connected I have the bravest heart that you've ever seen And you've never met anyone As positive as I am sometimes
You see everything You see every part You see all my light And you love my dark You dig everything Of which I'm ashamed There's not anything to which you can't relate And you're still here
I blame everyone else, not my own partaking My passive agressiveness can be devistating I'm terrified and mistrusting And you've never met anyone who's closed down as I am sometimes
You see everything You see every part You see all my light And you love my dark You dig everything Of which I'm ashamed There's not anything to which you can't relate And you're still here
What I resist, persists, and speaks louder than I know What I resist, you love, no matter how low or high I go
I am the funniest woman that you've ever known I am the dullest woman that you've ever known I am the most gorgeous woman that you've ever known And you've never met anyone as everything as I am sometimes
You see everything You see every part You see all my light And you love my dark You dig everything Of which I'm ashamed There's not anything to which you can't relate And you're still here And you're still here And you're still here

Various portions of "Just Thinkin'" are heavily inspired by a song on the *Practical Magic* soundtrack.
It's called "Is This Real?" by Lisa Hall and sounds very slinky and shadowed. I use it as mentioned earlier, just looping it over and over as I type out the scene (it's a short song)
Yeah I like this topic cause now I know the words to the Song from *Finding Nemo*

Most everything I write is inspired by a song or other... since I'm surrounded by music at work, certain tunes seem to get stuck in my head, and work their way around in there till they just about drive me crazy and I have to do something to get them out of there!! At the moment [and it's all Pel's fault, let me assure you] the one I can't get rid of is Iris, by the Goo Goo Dolls, especially these lines; And you can't fight the tears that ain't comin' Or the moment of truth in your lies When everything seems like the movies Yeah, you bleed just to know you're alive
And I don't want the world to see me, Cause I don't think that they'd understand. When everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am.Hopefully you guys will be seeing the thing that goes with sooner rather than later... Sara

Wow! Now I feel really behind on my fanfic reading. Hmmm...work on my stories...or procrastinate by reading all these others.....hmmm. Anyway... The song that's been going through my head constantly for my current WIP is "Wherever You Will Go" by The Calling. I can see each of my characters in parts of this song and it just makes me so sad. This song also reminds me of CC's Through the Window/And Back Again. Whevever You Will Go By The Calling So lately, I've been wonderin Who will be there to take my place When I'm gone, you'll need love To light the shadows on your face If a great wave should fall It would fall upon us all And between the sand and stone Could you make it on your own
[Chorus:] If I could, then I would I'll go wherever you will go Way up high or down low I'll go wherever you will go
And maybe, I'll find out The way to make it back someday To watch you, to guide you Through the darkest of your days If a great wave should fall It would fall upon us all Well I hope there's someone out there Who can bring me back to you
[Chorus]
Runaway with my heart Runaway with my hope Runaway with my love
I know now, just quite how My life and love might still go on In your heart and your mind I'll stay with you for all of time
[Chorus]
If I could turn back time I'll go wherever you will go If I could make you mine I'll go wherever you will go
There's another song that reminds me of AltClark in general, though mainly just the chorus. In Another World by Joe Diffe There you are with your hair all down And your feet are bare, in your cotton gown What a beautiful sight, in the moonlight The way you're lookin' at me with your lovin' eyes You let me know that for all my life You will always be my only girl But that's another place in time, back when you were mine In another world Sara (/me lurks away to the archive, hoping her muse won't notice)

I have to admit I rarely associate songs with any of the fics... if I do, it's only because I'm thinking what to use in a trailer, and then it just automatically pops up into my head... Though I'm used to write a story *based* upon a song. Now, the one thing I do associate with fics, is film scores. Most people probably know by now that I'm obsessed with the genre, can easily recognize a composer just by hearing his technique in the music and can name quite a few of them. The mood, the feelings... with every story I read, I automatically think of a composer/score that would go perfectly with it. Take "For the Greater Good" (Wendy's), for instance - before Clark found out that he'd have to sacrifice himself to save the rest of the world, the happy feelings... I don't know, it was kind of a feminine touch about the beginning, so I instantly thought of Rachel Portman's "The Cider House Rules" theme. A slow motion of Clark fooling around on the hill, holding one of the kids on his shoulders, playing "Catch!" with his other one. Then it turns darker.. a John Powell transition worked pretty good, but not for the rest of it. Then it would require Hans Zimmer, Jerry Goldsmith (on his better days) or maybe even James Newton Howard: beautiful, haunting and yet he has the power to scare the heck out of you. That I think of the music from "Speed" by Mark Mancina when it comes to LabRat's "Masques" is no secret <g>, but there's also quite a lot Final Fantasy (by Nobuo Uematsu) I imagine with the scenes (not the piano scores, though). Sometimes I even compose a few pieces myself to go with a story I just read. Stories like "Anybody's Baby", "Save Me, Superman", "The Marriage Pact", "Echoes of the Past", "Tryst", "HiM: The Video" and a few more, all have something I just found it naturally to write music for. I've gotten a few puzzled looks from some of my friends, though, when they heard what I played and wondered what kind of sheet music "Theme from Save Me, Superman" was. But there was one song I thought of when I read Through the Window/And Back Again, though not the one you mentioned, Sara. It will appear on the trailers for them (that are way long overdue, but on their way), so I don't want to spoil anything by saying which one. But it just... fit. So, fanfic soundtracks? Bring in the instrumental pieces too! Pelican
Such a little thing really, a kiss...most people don't give it a moment's consideration. They kiss on meeting, they kiss on parting, that simple touching of flesh is taken entirely for granted as a basic human right.

For CC Aikens' current story (The late, great Lois Lane) (and I love how 'late' means two things... she was thought to be dead, but isn't (she was formerly thought to be 'late'). However, she is 'late' in her entry into his life... he's married, and she's involved, and so... late on the scene...)
WIthout further babbling: For Clark and LANA
"Ever fall in love" (Peter Yorn)
You spurn my natural emotions
You make me feel like dirt
And Iām hurt
And if I start a commotion
I run the risk of losing you
And thatās worse
Ever fallen in love with someone
Ever fallen in love
In love with someone
Ever fallen in love
In love with someone
You shouldnātāve fallen in love with
I canāt see much of a future
Unless we find out whatās to blame
What a shame
And we wonāt be together much longer
Unless we realize that we are the same
Ever fallen in love with someone
Ever fallen in love
In love with someone
Ever fallen in love
In love with someone
You shouldnātāve fallen in love with
You disturb my natural emotions
You make me feel like dirt
And Iām hurt
And if I start a commotion
Iāll only end up losing you
And thatās worse
Ever fallen in love with someone
Ever fallen in love
In love with someone
Ever fallen in love
In love with someone
You shouldnātāve fallen in love with
Ever fallen in love with someone
Ever fallen in love
In love with someone
Ever fallen in love
In love with someone
You shouldnātāve fallen in love with
Fallen in love with
Ever fallen in love with someone
You shouldnātāve fallen in love with

You can't see the dance I'm doing in my kitchen, Pel, so I'll just do my best to replicate it here (btw, it's set to something instrumental...). I've got so many things to send off now, and I'm glad that I have the time now that finals are *finally* over (and I'm still alive!!), so... the amount will be a new record for me. Any chance we'll listen to your instrumental pieces, Pel?
AnnaBtG.
P.S.: Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease! LOL! Ahm... I have to admit I doubt it. The authors would have a big laugh. <g>I figured if I sometime write music for a story and plan on making a trailer for it, *and* I can't find any other music that'll fit with it - then maybe I'll use my own. But I kind of have that option as last resort. <g> I do play on an el. piano, and I do have recording devices to go with it, so that wouldn't be a problem. I haven't tried it yet, but it doesn't look too hard. Pelican

Oh, if we're talking lyrics for CC's The Late Great Lois Lane, this one works quite well, too. It's an oldy, though <g>. Sad to Belong by England Dan And John Ford Coley
Met you on a springtime day You were mindin' your life And I was minding mine, too Lady, when you looked my way I had a strange sensation and, darling, that's when I knew
That it's sad to belong to someone else When the right one comes along Yes, it's sad to belong to someone else When the right one comes along
Oh, I wake up in the night And I reach beside me hoping you will be there But instead I find someone Who believed in me when I said I'd always care
Oh, it's sad to belong to someone else When the right one comes along Yes, it's sad to belong to someone else When the right one comes along
So I live my life in a dream world For the rest of my days Just you and me walking hand in hand In a wishful memory Oh, I guess that's all that it could ever be
Wish I had a time machine, I could make myself go back Until the day I was born and I would live my life again and rearrange it so that I'll be yours from now on
Oh, it's sad to belong to someone else When the right one comes along Yes, it's sad to belong to someone else When the right one comes along Lynn /me whispers that she also has a great idea for the song to use on a trailer for this story, but she has no time frame in mind at this point. Waiting for the story to wrap up <g>.
You know that boy'd walk on water for you? Or he'd drown tryin'. -Perry White to Lois in Just Say Noah

After seeing Kae's video for My Immortal by Evanescence, it reminded me of another fanfic. Though I haven't read it in a while, this song remind me of Pam Jernigan's "Tryst". I'll post the lyrics just in case not everyone's heard it.
"My Immortal"
I'm so tired of being here Suppressed by all my childish fears And if you have to leave I wish that you would just leave 'Cause your presence still lingers here And it won't leave me alone
These wounds won't seem to heal This pain is just too real There's just too much that time cannot erase
[Chorus:] When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears I held your hand through all of these years But you still have All of me
You used to captivate me By your resonating light Now I'm bound by the life you left behind Your face it haunts My once pleasant dreams Your voice it chased away All the sanity in me
These wounds won't seem to heal This pain is just too real There's just too much that time cannot erase
[Chorus]
I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone But though you're still with me I've been alone all along
[Chorus]
Sara (who can't stop listening to songs without trying to find a fanfic to fit it)

L, that makes me wish I'd watched Buffy. I like Sarah Michelle Gellar and I like the type of show it was, I'm just not sure why I never got to watch it. I think I was a little turned off because I was so in love with the movie with Kristy Swanson and Luke Perry. I thought it was a betrayal of the fine( ) work they'd done back in...1993? Anyway, Evanessance is a great band and I'm glad it's inspired so much in this fandom as well as others. Sara

Is anyone sick of this topic yet? I am a little myself  , but only because *so* many songs I'm hearing keep reminding me of what I'm writing right now. So...here are some songs for "Wherever You Will Go" Everytime by Brittney Spears (yes, guilty pleasure, I admit it and it doesn't fit everything, but I love the chorus) Notice me Take my hand Why are we Strangers when Our love is strong Why carry on without me? Everytime I try to fly I fall without my wings I feel so small I guess I need you baby And everytime I see you in my dreams I see your face, you're haunting me I guess I need you baby I make believe That you are here It's the only way I see clear What have I done You seem to move on easy Everytime I try to fly I fall without my wings I feel so small I guess I need you baby Everytime I see you in my dreams I see your face, you're haunting me I guess I need you baby I may have made it rain Please forgive me My weakness caused you pain And this song is my sorry At night I pray That soon your face Will fade away Everytime I try to fly I fall without my wings I feel so small I guess I need you baby And everytime I see you in my dreams I see your face, you're haunting me I guess I need you baby "Carry On Wayward Son" by Kansas (poetically cute, dontcha think?) (Chorus) Once I rose above the noise and confusion Just to get a glimpse beyond the illusion I was soaring ever higher, but I flew too high Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man Though my mind could think I still was a mad man I hear the voices when I'm dreamin', I can hear them say (Chorus) Carry on my wayward son, For there'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Now don't you cry no more Masquerading as a man with a reason My charade is the event of the season And if I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don't know On a stormy sea of moving emotion Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean I set a course for winds of fortune, but I hear the voices say Carry on, you will always remember Carry on, nothing equals the splendor Now your life's no longer empty Surely heaven waits for you (Chorus)

U2's song With or Without You reminds me of Clark in Kaethel's Near Wild Heaven.
"With Or Without You"
See the stone set in your eyes See the thorn twist in your side I wait for you
Sleight of hand and twist of fate On a bed of nails she makes me wait And I wait without you
With or without you With or without you
Through the storm we reach the shore You give it all but I want more And I'm waiting for you
With or without you With or without you I can't live With or without you
And you give yourself away And you give yourself away And you give And you give And you give yourself away
My hands are tied My body bruised, she's got me with Nothing to win and Nothing left to lose
And you give yourself away And you give yourself away And you give And you give And you give yourself away
With or without you With or without you I can't live With or without you
With or without you With or without you I can't live With or without you With or without you

Oooh, I love that song, Sara, and you're right, it does fit Clark's mood. Thanks for this bit of inspiration for NWH II. Kaethel
- I'm your partner. I'm your friend. - Is that what we are? - Oh, you know what? I don't know what we are. We kiss and then we never talk about it. We nearly die frozen in each other's arms, but we never talk about it, so no, I got no clue what we are.

No problem, Kae! Anything to help you along. (Just in case. ) ____ I just heard this song for the first time last week and it struck me as something Clark would be thinking on New Krypton. This is for those of you dying to know about Clark in Wherever You Will Go. "Will I Ever Make It Home" by Ingram Hill I woke up from my sleep to the sound of that voice From the words that I heard I had no choice They told me I had to turn around My assurance slowly faded down And I wonder Will I ever make it home Will I ever leave the ground Leave this place so far behind The plans that I had were quickly destroyed The problem was one I couldn't avoid They welcomed me to stay overnight I'm too tired to complain so i just might And I wonder Will I ever make it home To the place I recognize Far from here and where I've been And all the places that I've been shown Will I ever make it home Can they keep me here for good Where I hardly know a soul And my fear keeps going on My weariness keeps growing inside My patience is starting to subside And I hope I'll be there soon It can't be long or I'll fall through Will I ever make it home Will I ever leave the ground Leave this place so far behind Till ther eis no turning back Will I ever make it home Get to where I wanna be Find the ones who wait for me To the place where I belong Will I ever make it home

Sorry Erica...not for a while if at all. And I'm not telling which. I'm starting to think I just shouldn't listen to the radio anymore...cause I heard another song that reminded me a little of my story, but very much more so of Kaylle's In Dreams. It's a song I love and I really can't believe I haven't posted it here yet, but that may have something to do with the fact that I just reccently read In Dreams. So here you go Kaylle. "Here Without You" by 3 Doors Down A hundred days have made me older Since the last time that i saw your pretty face A thousand lies have made me colder And i don't think i can look at this the same But all these miles that seperate Disappear now when i'm dreaming of your face I'm here without you baby But you're still on my lonely mind I think about you baby And i dream about you all the time I'm here without you baby But you're still with me in my dreams And tonight it's only you and me The miles just keep rollin' As the people leave their way to say hello I've heard this life was overrated But i hope that it gets better as we go I'm here without you baby But you're still on my lonely mind I think about you baby And i dream about you all the time I'm here without you baby But you're still with me in my dreams And tonight girl its only you and me Everything i know, and anywhere i go It gets hard but it wont take away my love And when the last one falls When it's all said and done It gets hard but it wont take away my love I'm here without you baby But you're still on my lonely mind I think about you baby And i dream about you all the time I'm here without you baby But you're still with me in my dreams And tonight girl its only you and me Sara (*sigh* I love that song and that story! )

Yeah, I'm back with more. It's amazing how many songs I've heard for the nth time that now remind me of In Dreams. Kaylle, what can I say? You've infected my brain. Higher by Creed When Iām dreaming Iām guided to another world Time and time again At sunrise I fight to stay asleep Cause I donāt want to leave the comfort of this place Cause thereās a hunger, longing to escape From the life I live when Iām awake So lets go there Lets make our escape Come on; letās go there Lets ask can we stay? Chorus Can you take me higher? To the place where blind men see Can you take me higher? To the place with golden streets Although I would like our world to change It helps me to appreciate Those nights and those dreams But my friend Iād sacrifice all those nights If I could make the earth and my dreams the same The only difference is To let love replace all our hate So lets go there Lets make our escape Come on Lets go there lets ask can we stay Chorus Lets go there Lets go there Lets go there Lets ask can we stay Up high I feel like Iām alive for the very first time Sat up high Iām strong enough to take these dreams And make them mine And make them mine Chorus x2 --- I Knew I Loved You by Savage Garden Maybe it's intuition But some things you just don't question Like in your eyes, I see my future in an instant And there it goes, I think I found my best friend I know that it might sound More than a little crazy But I believe........ I knew I loved you before I met you I think I dreamed you into life I knew I loved you before I met you I have been waiting all my life There's just no rhyme or reason Only the sense of completion And in your eyes, I see The missing pieces I'm searching for I think I've found my way home I know that it might sound More than a little crazy But I believe I knew I loved you before I met you I think I dreamed you into life I knew I loved you before I met you I have been waiting all my life A thousand angels dance around you I am complete now that I've found you I knew I loved you before I met you I think I dreamed you into life I knew I loved you before I met you I have been waiting all my life I knew I loved you before I met you I think I dreamed you into life I knew I loved you before I met you I have been waiting all my life (To Fade) --- And then there's this song, which I always liked just because of the chorus lines: "When you are with me I'm free I'm careless, I believe. Above all the others we'll fly." You know, because it sounded Lois and Clark-y. But when I listened to it again after reccently nagging Kae for NWH2, the whole song clicked into place as something that 'just fit.' I listened to it again (hey, you already know I'm obsessive ) and thought it also seemed to encompass altClark's feelings in Wherever You Will Go. Anyway...this is mainly to inspire Kae , so here ya go! My Sacrifice by Creed Hello my friend, we meet again It's been awhile, where should we begin? Feels like forever Within my heart are memories Of perfect love that you gave to me Oh, I remember When you are with me, I'm free I'm careless, I believe Above all the others we'll fly This brings tears to my eyes My sacrifice We've seen our share of ups and downs Oh how quickly life can turn around In an instant It feels so good to reunite Within yourself and within your mind Let's find peace there When you are with me, I'm free I'm careless, I believe Above all the others we'll fly This brings tears to my eyes My sacrifice I just want to say hello again I just want to say hello again When you are with me I'm free I'm careless, I believe Above all the others we'll fly This brings tears to my eyes Cause when you are with me I am free I'm careless, I believe Above all the others we'll fly This brings tears to my eyes My sacrifice, My sacrifice I just want to say hello again I just want to say hello again My sacrifice. --- Okay, I'm done...for now. I'll probably be back later. Sara (who just wanted to extend a private message to Kae: )

See! I'm back again. This is a rather new country song by SheDaisy that really struck me as how Lois would be feeling right now in Wherever You Will Go. Come Home Soon by SheDaisy I put away the groceries And I take my daily bread I dream of your arms around me As I tuck the kids in bed I don't know what you're doin' And I don't know where you are But I look up at that great big sky And I hope you're wishin' on that same bright star I wonder, I pray [Chorus:] And I sleep alone I cry alone And it's so hard livin' here on my own So please, come home soon (Come home soon) I know that we're together Even though we're far apart And I'll wear our lucky penny 'round my neck Pressed to my heart I wonder, I pray [Repeat Chorus] [Bridge:] I still imagine your touch It's beautiful missing something that much But sometimes love needs a fighting chance So I'll wait my turn until it's our turn to dance I wonder, I pray [Second Chorus:] I sleep alone I cry alone Without you this house is not a home So please, come home soon [Third Chorus:] I walk alone I try alone I'll wait for you, don't want to die alone So please, come home soon Come home soon Come home soon *sigh* Okay...should be done for a while. Oooh, Sara!!! Thank you for that bit of nagging-ish inspiration... or should that be inspirational nagging? Excellent lyrics, and you're right, they fit. All excited about writing now! Anybody want to do my class preps so that I get some free time? Please? Kaethel

Now, why didn't I find this thread sooner??? Music and fic,two of my favorite things put together! About a year ago,I heard Laura Pausini's Everyday is a Monday and an idea for a fic popped in my head ( I never wrote it though as it usually happens with me and my ideas) What came to mind was something along the lines of that Bill Murray Movie where he gets stuck in the same day and Twas the night before Mxymas, though I hadn't set it anywhere in th L&C chronology (though, reading the song now, after Contact seems a good time) Everyday Is A Monday (Il Mio Sbaglio PiĆ¹ Grande) by Laura Pausini Feels like IĀ“ve been frozen in time And I'm looking for an easy way To get on with my life But I know YouĀ“re the one to tell IĀ“ve been putting on a masquerade I ainĀ“t doing that well Everything has crashed And I'm losing this game I can't help myself but wonder Do you feel the same? How could I ever say goodbye Everyday is a monday Without you by my side I must have been a fool to try `Cos everyday is a monday Without you in my life Tell me It's a big mistake 'Cause I kinda learned my lesson more than I can take Freedom had a price to pay I don't wanna be the one to throw it all away Everything has crashed And I'm losing this game I can't help myself but wonder Do you feel the same? (Chorus) We were the weekend Always living to be free Now Iām stuck here on a monday When I need you Everyday of the week. (I like the Italian and Spanish versions of the song much more, but the lyrics are comletely different) Other than that, another Pausini song (yeah, I guess we all have confession to make... her music is one of my weaknesses ) seemed perfect for Lois at a certain moment as I was writing Nothing but a Luthor on the way: If that's Love (Laura Pausini) If you're gonna break my heart and leave Make promises you don't intend to keep If that's love then I want no part. But if you think that love should last for life If you believe it's more than just one night If that's love then you've got my heart. And if you'd rather hold on to your pride Than wipe away the tears you made me cry If that's love then I want no part. But if you're gonna be there when I need Someone to just hold me tenderly If that's love then you've got my heart. If the kinda love that you bring comes with no demands and no strings If in your eyes I see for sure That you're the one I'm waiting for I'll give my heart, my soul, my everything. If I have to let go of my dreams Become someone I never ever thought I'd be If that's love then I want no part. But if you're gonna be the kinda man Who's willing just to take me as I am If that's love then you've got my heart. Tell me in your arms I'll be safe Where loneliness and fear have no place The only thing you have to do The only thing I ask of you Is give your heart, your soul, and your faith. And if you cannot give these things to me Then I just have to tell you honestly If that's love then I want no part. But if you say you've finally found in me The only place that you could ever be If that's love then you've got my heart If that's love then you've got my heart If that's love, if that's love If that's love BABY YOU, BABY YOU you've got my heart I think I went over my 2 cents Cris
