Ah, what a lovely welcome-home present for me. A whole new Nan/TU story! Very good, of course. I like Ty & Randy a lot (and I'm a bit worried about Yvonne, 'cause I liked her, too). The whole "psychic partner" business is interesting -- kind of like the "bond" thing on L&C only without the romance built into it. Anyway, great story! All kinds of twists and turns. When's the next one? PJ

ok, so I think I know what's up with 'Cookie' Wong. Both of her parents are psychic power packs. It would have to be, for her to be a fully functional psychic. That would make her a one in a million shot. One that someone would spend a lot of money on to find out the results.
Which would then make her 'fortune cookie.'

Ah, allow me to correct slightly. (Yes, I am taking the unfair advantage of having the insiders knowledge) One parent has to be a powerpack, the other is a normal person who carries the control factor, like most humans do. If both parents were powerpacks, there would be no control to pass onto Carol. However, given that Carol has siblings that are normal size and presumably not psychics, I would say that one or both parents carries a single gene(possibly the control factor, but as I understand the odds, much more likely you have a single gene powerpack). Viola, instant psychic with no psychic parents...
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Airlik (Hi Dan!) is absolutely right. A single-gene power pack parent, matched with a normal, non-psychic parent with one control gene and <tada> instant psychic offspring, as well as probable non-psychic offspring and maybe even a power pack or two.

I just assumed it was like Mark and Julie's situation, Nan. He's a powerpack and she's a normal person with the control factor, and they can have all three kinds of kids: psychics, power packs, and non-psychics.

Mark and Julia's case is slightly different. Remember in Child's Play, when Mark's thinking that he's soon to be the father of seven psychic children? If one of them had only a single gene (Mark of power or Julia of control) at least one of those kids would have not been a psychic (either a power pack or a normal person). As it is, all seven, including the two on the way, are strong psychics. So both Mark and Julia have two genes of their respective gene. All of their kids will be psychics. Although, I hope for Julia's sake, especially, they space those pregnancies out a little more. It's not like they have only until 40 or so like we do to have kids, after all!
