Posting this early because in about a month, we're all going to be busy with the holiday season! Hey there, FoLCs! After the success of the summer ficathon, I thought it might be fun to throw a winter one out there. That being said, here are the guidelines, as per Ms. Mosley's summer challenge. Guideline #2: If you wish to write one or more fics for this event, choose from the 50 prompts below and reply to this thread with your choice. One prompt per story. The prompt does not have to be taken literally. It's just a jumping off point. Guideline #3: Fics should be posted before March 1. Use (Winter Ficathon) after your title and mention which prompt you used in the author's notes. Guideline #4: Have Fun! 1. Presents 2. Christmas 3. New Year's 4. New Year's Eve kiss 5. Champagne 6. Originally posted by Deadly Chakram: No takers? I did work on a short story a couple of weeks ago, but it wasn't set as any particular time of year, and it's still a WIP. I'll probably want to do a real Christmas themed story later on, as I do love holiday themed stories, but I'm mirred in my monster epic at the moment. Should I complete my short story, several of your prompts could easily be slipped in. Acutally, now, that I think about it, tying the story to the holiday might give me the ending I've been missing. Hmmmm. I'll have to play around with it and get back to you. One question about the prompts, do you know if the actual word(s) need to be used or just implied by context?

Hi, Virginia! Always happy to help. And I do hope you find the ending you are looking for. You don't need to necessarily use the actual words, but the prompt should be easily deduced from the context. I, personally, always try to find a way to use the words, but sometimes, it really just feels awkward to shove it in. I totally get that. Anyway, if you decide you want to claim a prompt or two, I'll happily mark you on the list!

Can you add a prompt? ) If not, I could probably adapt the same story for one of the other prompts. SQD (and yeah, I know I'm behind on the fall stories )

SQD (and yeah, I know I'm behind on the fall stories ) Go for it, SQD! I'll add it and mark you off. And you aren't behind. I was just early in posting the challenge.

SQD (and yeah, I know I'm behind on the fall stories ) Maybe it will still work for last year's Christmas Challenge (but only if the story is set in 1993), in which one of the prompts was mistletoe.

Vicki, Last year I wrote a Christmas piece. It became Volume 1A of the Matchmaker set. Lois Lane - Mother of Utopia - The Early Years - MMC Volume 1A I don't know if you'd want to count that or not.

Ah, I think I may have missed that one. I'll have to take a peek when I can. I'm just trying to drum up new stories on here/jump start people's muses.

I claim "blizzard" though my fic is more of the snowstorm variety... It's about halfway written, all from Lois' POV if "Green, green glow of home" had taken place in the winter. Danger and romance ensues. Title: "Snowbound" Do we have a deadline or a certain order when we should start posting? *Hint* A deadline would help me finish!
Reach for the moon, for even if you fail, you'll still land among the stars... and who knows? Maybe you'll meet Superman along the way.

Do we have a deadline or a certain order when we should start posting? *Hint* A deadline would help me finish! Well, as I put in Guideline 3, I was thinking March 1 as a deadline. Of course, I'm hoping Christmas stories get posted closer to the holiday. Ohhh, sounds like you are brewing a Lois and Clark stuck together in a snow storm story! I can't get enough of those, really. (Which is why I wrote my own "Snowbound" in Jan.) I'll mark you off on the list and look forward to it!

Added Jenna under the "Santa Claus" prompt since her story fit it so well.

Also Bobbart wanted to take "Family Gathering" for his new The Pub prequel, Always Darkest

I just had an idea for something and would like to claim: 16. Santa's helper. And I promise, no more dark Christmas stories - at least no more this year. Bob
