Ok, the results are in on all the different series that readers here are interested in seeing interact with characters of LnC. And it is quite the list! Again, here are the rules. January 1 through mid-night January 7th: Sign-ups for authors. Here is what you need to indicate when you sign-up: 1. Series you are crossing over with. 2. Character(s) from #1 that you are picking. 3. Featured guest LnC character(s) you are going to pair #2 with. If you want it all to be a mystery, please PM me with the information. All Subject Lines should contain Crossover Fic-a-thon. February 18th: Stories due. Please, don't feel that these pairings have to be romantic. They aren't necessarily Valentine's fanfics, I am just giving you a full six weeks to write everything. Here is the list: 24 Angel Barbie: The Island Princess Batman Batman (Adam West series) Black Books Blade Runner Bobbsey Twins Bones Boston Legal Buffy Charmed Comic Book Superman Coupling UK Criminal Minds CSI Las Vegas CSI--Any of them Dead Like Me Dinner: Impossible Doctor Who Dresden files Eureka Farscape Firefly Forever Knight Fraiser Friends F-Troop Grey's Anatomy Hannah Montana Harry Potter He-Man Hercules Heroes Highlander Inspector Gadget Iron Chef Jag Jeffersons Justice League Keen Eddie Kim Possible Law and Order LOST Men In Trees Mummy My Name is Earl Mystery Men Mythbusters Nancy Drew Narbonic NCIS Northern Exposure Numb3rs Peanuts Pushing Daisies Quantum Leap Quincy Remington Steele Rugrats Sailor Moon Scrubs Seinfeld Sesame Street Smallville Smurfs Star Trek DS9 Star Trek Enterprise Star Trek TNG Star Trek TOS Star Trek Voyager Stargate Atlantis Stargate SG-1 Strawberry Shortcake Sue Thomas, F.B.Eye Superfriends Superman 2 Superman Returns The Muppet Show The Secret World of Alex Mack The West Wing The X-Files Third Rock from the Sun Twin Peaks Wallace and Gromit Without a Trace Wonder Woman Wonderfalls X-Men Also, here is the top LnC charactes that people would like to see more of. Oh goody - I'm first again - Let's see. I've already done LnC/Superman Returns
So this time I choose....
Insert drumroll here....
Stargate SG1 (SG1) with Trask.
(Sheriff Rachel will be there too, along with Wayne Irig. Hey, Smallville's a very small town.)
I just remembered all my X-files stuff went missing along with some other stuff while cleaning the bookshelves.

Well, there is a bunch of them I'd love to see, but I'll volunteer for Star Trek: Voyager with Captain Janeway (at least) guest starring with Lois, Clark, and Rachel Harris. (Expect it to be short...)

Here is what you need to indicate when you sign-up: 1. Series you are crossing over with. 2. Character(s) from #1 that you are picking. 3. Featured guest LnC character(s) you are going to pair #2 with. I'll do an Inspector Gadget/Curious George crossover with the main characters from each show and Agent Call-me-Dan Scardino. BTW, Coolgirl, one thing I learned from Nanowrimo is that you really don't need more time. Just try to write for a half hour to an hour and a half a day without missing and you can put out a phenomenally long story. Don't edit until you're done or you end up spending so much time rewriting that you never finish. Regards, Elisabeth

Don't edit until you're done or you end up spending so much time rewriting that you never finish. Oh? Gotta try that! That will surely boost the word count by ten times, since mostly I end up deleting whatever I write to re-write and re-write and re-write...

Okay, I call Sesame street. Not sure which SS characters I'll use, though, but let me go ahead and reserve the basic muppets and kids. Most likely Big Bird, since...it just isn't sesame street without Big Bird! LnC characters: Superman. Lois and Clark might get a mention, but Superman will be doing most of the interacting. Am I limited to who I name here?

Was asked a few questions offline that deserve to be answered online as they are really good questions. 1.Why do I have to name the characters which I want to pair up (sometimes, a story just develops and you don't know who will end up being part of it or not) instead of just naming the show I want to crossover with?If you are going to do a general crossover between shows without specifically pairing up individual characters from both fandoms, then that is ok. I realize I said in an earlier thread that I was looking for specific pair ups, but as I listened to the wisdom of my wife, I realized that some people just aren't wired that way and so this has developed into an anything goes (please keep this PG or PG13!)In that case just say various characters with various characters. 2. By "pairing them up", do you just mean that they all have to appear in the story, i.e. is it not important, who is more of a lead and more of a supporting character, or should I really set them up in pairs? (This is probably the most stupid question, but I'm just making sure)The only stupid question is the un-asked one. Doesn't really matter who is the lead and who is the support. In one crossover pairing that I read, Dawn from Buffy and Draco Malfory form HP were the main leads in the story. They can be however you want. Does this work on a "first come, first served" basis or could I also write a crossover with a show already "taken" by another author? As you can see from my example, I decided to take Stargate, just like Dandello (heck, I'm even using Trask!) All really good questions. Glad that they were asked. My New Year's Resolution is to be an easy taskmaster...NOW GET TO WRITING!!! James

Ok, I'm going to try, but don't get mad at me if I can't finish!
1. Series you are crossing over with. -Frasier 2. Character(s) from #1 that you are picking. -Frasier and Roz 3. Featured guest LnC character(s) you are going to pair #2 with. -Lois for sure and um, I'm thinking about another shrink, Dr. Friskin from the series, but we'll see. Possibly Dr. Maxwell Deter, DR. McCORKLE... Can anyone help my tired brain out? Were there ANY other Shrinks I'm forgetting? I'd like to use them all if I can.

I think you got my muse dwelling on Firefly. I bet I could pull it off if it's just a earthbound ocean going boat as compared to a spaceship. Okay I call the crossover with Firefly.

And didn't Martha take some psychology courses at some point (maybe Dr Frasier Crane gave a guest lecture at Smallville community college ). I think I vaguely remember a quip by Jonathan about that, but I could be wrong ... Looking forward to your story, Eva

Oh heck, I'll give it a go I drove two hours in the back seat today and since the engine was too loud to talk, I now have a story outline for a crossover fic in my head. 1. Series you are crossing over with. Men in Trees 2. Character(s) from #1 that you are picking. Patrick, Annie, Jerome, probably Buzz, Ben, Chief Celia, uh, and yeah, maybe I should include Marin and Jack, too 3. Featured guest LnC character(s) you are going to pair #2 with. Lois, Clark, Perry, guest appearances by other newsroom staff Special guest star: the KING Btw, I have posted a Poll about this crossover fic-a-thon over in Fun With Polls, it would be great if you took the time: This Poll Will Change Your Life Thanks and looking forward to the fic-a-thon experience, Eva

Stupid question alert: does Sheriff Harris have to be in the story? or are you just saying she's someone people would like to see more of - as in, just informing us of this fact.
And um... would anyone throw tomatoes at me if I said I'd consider writing a crossover with... um [whispers]Batman[/whispers]?

I just thought I would lump the two results together. that's all. And I would expect nothing less that a Batman crossover from you, but I have a request. Include Alfred. He is one of my favorite support characters from Batman. James

Curse you, crossover fic challenge! Here I am, finally writing again after the muse took and extended vacation, and this thread comes along to displace that story with various crossover plot bunnies... I'm not going to commit (because that's usually the kiss of death for my muse), but I might just try to get one of them written down by the deadline. Depending on which plot bunny reigns supreme, the show will be: 1) Dr. Who 2) using either Rose/Clark or the Doctor(ten)/Clark. 3) Not sure which other character yet. BJ

I don't know if I'll be able to finish on time (heck, there is still another story to finish and translate!), but I'll try. I'll take the Wonderwoman crossover, though I'm not sure yet whether to take the WW from this old series or from DC. The pairing will be Wonderwoman (Diana Prince) and Superman (Clark Kent). Both identities. No Lois, though.

Okay, I'll play!
Computer is out until about Friday, I hope, but Feb 14th is plenty of time!
1. Series - Bonanza
2. Characters - Little Joe, Adam plus other Cartwrights
3. Secondary character(s) - I guess HG Wells and maybe Sheriff Rachel Harris.
Missy (who feels stupid signing up for another ficathon when her computer's out, but having CK give lovelorn advice to Little Joe is way too tempting)

Well... this is Lois and Clark : The New Adventures of Superman boards... so, I think Lois should be there... I know I'll probably get beaten over the head for this, but as long as stories are set in the LnC universe, both Lois and Clark do not have to appear. But please don't take that the wrong way. I'm just repeating what has been said here before. As long as it's our Clark that appears and not solely the comic book Clark, then it's an LnC story. And, Mellie, I'd love to see a Wonderwoman / Superman crossover - especially if it is the Wonderwoman from the old tv series. You know I'll read it!

both Lois and Clark do not have to appear. Oh yes, I agree to that... I mean we have a lot of Jimmy stories, Perry-Jimmy stories etc. etc. and I do agree that we have stories where Clark's paired with Mayson and Lois with Dan/Lex but what I'm trying to say is... If *Superman* gets paired with Wonderwoman without Diana/Clark relationship, it sort of becomes like JL story, provided Clark exhibits his JL Supermannish qualities. It's a lot different from our Superman! The aura, the muscles

Hey, you can really trust me not to have any Clark and Diana romance or anything like a Superman and Wonderwoman romance in the story I have in mind. Neither do I want any of the other leaguers to turn up, so it's hardly a JL story, either.
But is it in the LnC universe? Well, maybe. I intended to set it in the far future.

Just a friendly reminder...
All stories must contain some identifiable portion of the LnC Canon in order to be accepted on this board.
If the story does not contain above said item(s) then the story will probably be yanked from this board by Them Who Watches Over Details....

If we do not accept (do we? I'm not sure) exclusive Superman : The Movie stories here (i.e. based on the movie) then do we accept JL stories? No, the board doesn’t accept these. And like James said, they will be yanked (and have been). But if the author says that it is LnC Clark, then it is (provided, of course, that Clark exhibits *LnC* Supermannish qualities ). All stories must contain some identifiable portion of the LnC Canon Hmm... I know it has to have something identifiable to LnC, but canon? If we had to stick with canon, wouldn’t we lose some of those wonderful elseworld and alt world stories? Some of those definitely mess with what I think of as canon. Or wouldn’t we even lose those stories where folks have Lois and Clark starting a relationship in the first season? Or the stories where - ooh, yuck - Lois actually marries Lex? Those are not canon. (Those were the first two examples that popped in my head, but there are surely others.) But maybe we are defining canon differently.

We are defining canon differently.

Canon (fiction), a body of works considered "genuine" or "official" within a fictional universe
Any thing found in the 4 series run is considered canon.
If you use Tempus the story has an LnC canon element.
If you use Hyperion Avenue, yadda, yadda, yadda.
For the most part, it is assumed that you are using LnC canon here. It is when the characters are not acting LnCish, then we have problems.
If this is not the criteria, then I guess the Mods can step in and tell us what is the criteria.

Okay...I call Charmed - Piper, Phoebe & Paige with Jimmy & Jack Olsen.
Just one question. Is there a penalty for not completing the story on time?

Hi James, First of, congratulations on finishing your first draft (or so I deduce from your beta comment). Regarding your question: not doing all that well over here, I have to admit. My exams are coming up and somehow that sort of hampers my creative output. So I'm still stuck at page four. However, I have a lot of scenes and dialog planned out in my head and I hope that I will have the inspiration to start writing them down again very soon. My last exam is on Friday, 15th, so I'll try to make the weekend after that challenge-only. Hope everybody else is making better progress, Eva

Eeek from me,too, I have not even started my story yet. I do have an idea though. I've been trying to get my school schedule straightened out and now that it is, I'll have a chance this week to get going on the fic.

For The Fall Of Night Unbidden Came And I Fell From The Sky Classy! I haven't come up with a title, yet, but other than that I'm almost done. Methinks my fic will be a little bit less sophisticated than yours. Elisabeth

Methinks my fic will be a little bit less sophisticated than yours. More likely just a sophiscated title. I'm about 1/2 done! Hey, Mr. Data. Could we post the names of the fics here? There are so many new ones lately that I can't pick some of them out. Thanks!

My crossover is with Star Trek: Voyager. Okay, here's the link to mi TOC - at least Part One. Part two, while written, needs some work, so it won't make it by the deadline. For The Fall Of Night Unbidden Came And I Fell From The Sky Hey, James, has anyone else posted? Maybe we need an extension???

Hey, I've just noticed this thread. This is pretty cool. Crossovers have always been poorly represented in FoLCdom. Don't forget to send all your crossovers along to the Archive - it'll be nice to bump up the numbers! LabRat

Oops! I so forgot to list it here. (Sorry, but I'm used to Laramoon who does all the work herself. I realize that some authors have beat you to the chase, however.) Here's mine --or as close as you'll get to a crossover from me, even though I cheated. Also, my beautiful poster is here (BTW, you should ask James if he'll post the full-size version of both the Inspector Gadget and Curious George. They're works of art.) Elisabeth

*blushes* and ducks her head... How many days left do we have? I've started, I swear. But Bruce isn't talking to me and it's making things hard (see, the proof is that I've been able to come up with TWO plain L&C stories -- I can never do that when Bruce is around, he wants me to write about him instead. *lol*) thanks!

Originally posted by LaraMoon: Hey, James - what's your icon btw... the images flash too quick for me to figure out who the people are. It is actually three people, if you ignore that fact that they are actors. You probably don't know any of them... At the start of the cycle, it is a young couple kissing. It is a memory that is shared by the older woman and the young Jack Carter, Sheriff of Eureka. In that particular episode, they REALLY need to know how to stop a M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction) Death Ray(Jack's words, not mine) and the scientist that built the thing sort of went off the deep back in the 60's when he didn't get the Nobel Prize. So, they hook up Jack to a gizmo(my words) that allows you to experiance another's person's memories. Jack later meets the fiance of the scientist and finds that he remembers being in love with her as well, thus him kissing her. It's a great series. More time, please. I'm *so* not ready! Your wish has been granted. I had originally forgotten about how the Kerths would affect this, so let's take advantage of the pause between nominations and voting and shift the due date to March 9. James Thank goodness, a deadline extension - I live by those these days Now I don't have to frantically post an un-beta'd first part only to kinda-sorta meet the deadline. I'm glad some people already posted, though, and I look forward to reading the stories. I agree, btw, Eureka is a good show. Love Carter and Allison and Henry and Deputy Lupo and Taggart and Fargo and especially SARAH, the house: "Fargo, is that you talking like a girl?" (And okay, Nathan Stark is not too shabby either.) Though I think the scripts are not really living up to the potential of cast and characters - it's still good fun, though Eva

I'm not sure there would be an extension to the deadline if James were ready to post his story. (Which BTW is getting better and better each time he looks at it--although he doesn't look at it often anymore.) As for James' avatar, it would be similar to Jaxon remembering he was in love with Lois after visiting Clark's brain--only the wrong person was nuts. Elisabeth

I'm going to try and meet the deadline, but I might be late. I was planning on working on this this past weekend, but instead I've spent it lying on my back, completely doped up on pain killers because my back is, well... killing me. I've actually spent the last 5 days lying on my back and barely able to do anything besides watch a lot of Star Trek on TV. *sigh* Hopefully, I can work on the story this weekend... I've got the idea, only I haven't written more than 3 or 4 lines. And they're the last lines, so that's not helping much, is it? *lol* Anyway... just to say this is where I'm at.

You know, I started recording a story for the archive, once upon a time, but... ah... I have a terrible accent in English, there are words (like "little") that I just can't pronounce properly and... well I didn't think it was good enough, so I never finished it. I'd be a lot better in French, I suppose. Which, actually, someone had asked me to record some French L&C stories for the archive, but I never managed to get permission from the person who'd written them. I think it was someone who had translated the S5/S6 stories, actually. Never got an answer to my emails. Oh well. *shrugs* And my back is actually a LOT better today. *yay* I'd jump up and down, but I'm afraid I'll hurt myself.

I'd like to hear your voice, too. Where were the audio files? I'm sure us native English speakers would think that your French Canadian accent was quite charming. And I bet you speak far better than *you* think you do.
And I'm sure your accent would be far more delightful to listen to than my 'Howdy' accent would be.
But then when we listen to ourselves, it sounds odd to us because we don't think we sound that way. Did that make sense? I remember Paul once explained that in some technical terms which I now can't remember.

You sound so different than I expected you to...I like it. I sounded bland as heck on that - I was trying to enunciate properly. In RL, I laugh all the time and my voice is happy and cheerful. Plus... well, if I spoke in English, I'd have an accent, of course. You should give an audio story a try, again. I think it would sound charming. I'll even give you permission to take any of my stories and give it a go. You know... I might be convinced to record a couple of my really short ones, but the thing is - I stumble on words and I have to start over and over again before I'm happy, so recording takes forever. Not to mention, I'm not able to read anything without somehow giving it some emotion. I think I probably still have parts of that fic I recorded way back when, I might post a bit to show you. I'm borderline acting it out -- and I don't think that's really right for audio fic, really. James, who's muse has decided to extend the deadline again to April 16th. Heee! Kiss him for me!

I'm not able to read anything without somehow giving it some emotion. I think if I'm understanding this correctly that you put emotion into your readings. I think that's how it should be. To me, the timber and tone of your voice was very much as I expected, but I don't know why. If I hadn't seen your picture, I probably would not have thought your voice would have sounded like it does though. I'd love to hear something in English.

Well, the files no longer reside on my hard drive, it seems. I did look for them...
I could always record something else, if you insist?
...oooh, and guess what, I have an entire page of my fic written. (and most of the idea for the rest is in my notebook. Heee!)

Yes, Lara, *I* for one do insist I'm proud of you for working on your fic. I still have only two and a half pages (no progress since January 29) and a head full of ideas. But now that you said you have the ideas for the rest already in your notebook, I've decided to make you my new role model So I'll try and at least write an outline of how I think the story will unfold. Maybe - hopefully! - that will get me started again. Eva

This is like, totally highjacking the thread now - and I'm sorry. But since you asked me for this... Here you go: Cupid\'s Drop Box Definitely nothing to get excited about. I stumble and mispronounce over half the words and I seem to get over-enthused about a lot of the sentences... *shrugs* I'm way better in French, trust me. Oh and no, I'm not sending this to the archive - no way, no how - and while I know posting it here isn't the right place (re: hijacked thread) I'm actually quite happy to be able to post it here, 'cause I figure less people are likely to see than if I'd stuck that in a new thread someplace else.

Okay, Lara, I am very sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but I have to tell you something and it's serious *puts her solemn, yet compassionate face on*: you are clearly delusional. But don't worry, delusional disorders are not such a rare condition these days (I've heard there are people out there thinking they can fly and that mixing three primary colours in their suit is a good idea). We'll get you medicated and you'll be well again in no time. Seriously, that was such a great little audio-fic Your voice is so soft and pleasant and I noticed hardly any stumbling over sentences or mispronunciation ... I absolutely loved this. And you do not "over-enthuse" at all. As every acting/public speaking coach will tell you: if you don't feel it's too much, it's not enough. I'm absolutely honest here, no buttering you up: I think your presentation was not "over acted" at all, it was just a very good reading of a sweet little story. My laundry practically folded itself as I was listening to you I do hope that you will read more stories in the future and also find it in your little, bat-shaped heart to share this with more people (either through a new thread or a submission to the archive, but preferably both ). By the way, if you happen to have anything in French, I would be a thankful taker, too. Although I would definitely need the script in front of me as my French is deteriorating with every day that goes by - and my listening skills are far inferior to my mediocre reading skills. Jacques Chirac is the only French person I really understand quite well - every time he was on TV5, I was happy I could actually watch a segment and get what it was about. Too bad he's not Monsieur le Président anymore But to not totally hijack the thread: I actually made some progress with my crossover fic Yay! I'm now at almost eight pages (okay, I've also only set up the premise, but I strongly feel I'm getting there - at least that's what I'm telling myself ). Lara, thanks again for recording and posting this. I loved it, it was great Mille fois merci, Eva

Back to the original topic, I'm happy to see more crossovers posted this week. I'm actually thinking of finishing another crossover that I started last year but never finished. I figure that with all of the postponements I may be able to hit the extended date. Classicalla, Dandello, BJ are you up for another?

Oh and no, I'm not sending this to the archive - no way, no how - and while I know posting it here isn't the right place (re: hijacked thread) I'm actually quite happy to be able to post it here, 'cause I figure less people are likely to see You might well have thought that and you might well have been right...except that for no reason I can think of I came into the thread and...peekaboo! Caught ya! When it comes to tracking possible submissions for the Archive I have the instincts of a bloodhound, I tells ya. Listen to Eva. She's talking lots of sense. And the Archive hasn't had a good audiofic - and this was a good audiofic - submitted for way too long. Consider it, at least? You know it would be welcome. LabRat (who agrees that any good audiofic should have some degree of emotion and acting in it...)
