Tempus has been killed by Lex Luthor who has been knocked through the time window. The window remote control was broken as Tempus fell.
Staff at Lex Labs are working on it, trying to fix it. They open a number of windows in many places around town but not in their area so they don't see open time windows. All link between thir universe and places this Tempus had recently visited. In a short period they exhaust the unit's power supply.

Through one such windows drives a car with the body of a powerless & recently shot Clark Kent.
His parents died a few years ago and his powers disappeared while he was traveling the world. In time he made it to the Daily Planet.
Having no powers to hide he had made a name for himself as a freelance reporter.
There is no Lois Lane, she disappeared in the Congo years ago.
Clark has been shot and some of Luthor's lackeys are driving away with him stuffed in the trunk when the car drives through a time window and slams into a Police car.
This occurs in a normal L&C verse just after the events of TOGOM.
The Lois Lane who just saw her partner killed is with Perry, Henderson and Superman when the call comes in that Clark has been found in the trunk of a car and taken to the hospital.
Of course Superman can't say, that's not Clark Kent!!
This other Clark wakes up in the hospital a few days later. His doctors are concerned. He has never heard of Superman or Lois Lane, thinks Martin Sheen is President and Lex Luthor is alive.
Lois has of course called the Kents who can't say "that's not Clark" and instead fly into town.
At this point Lois Lane knows she has feeling for Clark Kent, the whole point of the episode TOGOM was to make her see this, BUT this is another Clark Kent.
The problems now are
- what to do about the EXTRA Clark Kent and
- if they wait too long will this new Clark Kent fall for Lois Lane?
- Since this Lois is not as connected to this extra Clark will she find her feeling for this Clark are somehow less then she felt they were when she believed Clark was dead?
- Perhaps thinking that her feelings were only a side effect of grief?
- Since she will now see Superman and Clark in the same room and she will feel MUCH more connected to Superman how will she ever come to see the man under the suit.
- The AltClark knows he once had powers like this world's Superman.
- Will he regain his powers?
