This is a shameless theft of a game on a TV programme. The challenge is to write a dialogue between two L&C characters, where each consecutive word begins with the next letter of the alphabet, A to Z (or Z to A, if you're feeling adventurous wink ).

I've started one, to give you an idea:

Lois: “And...?”

Clark: “Badbrain.”

Lois: “Clark!”

Clark: “Don't ever forget-“

Lois: “Gosh. Have I-“

Clark: “Just killed, Lois? Maybe…”

Lois: “No!”

Any takers to finish it off? <g>

Clark: Obviously, poison. Quite rare. Some truely unique venom.

Lois: What? Xenopenemone?!!

Clark: Yes.

Lois: Zikes!

"You told me you weren't like other men," she said, shaking her head at him when the storm of laughter had passed.
He grinned at her - a goofy, Clark Kent kind of a grin. "I have a gift for understatement."
"You can say that again," she told him.
"I have a...."
"Oh, shut up."

Oh my goodness, Paul,

That was amazing. Met the challenge, and then some. Sounded like actual speech. Made sense. Fit L&C canon to a T. Was humorous. And didn't resort to made up words (or made up names of poisons!). Just amazing! wave

Paul,

Since no-one else has stepped up, do you mind if I continue your story?

Clark: Not only prejudiced, quintessencially racist.

Lois (in state of shock): Superman??!

Clark nods.

Lois (pulling open Clark's shirt): Tights?!

Another nod.

Lois (pulling off Clark's glasses): Ultra vision?

Clark: What?

Lois: X-rays.

Clark: Yes. "Zoom" abilities, brighter, clearer...

Lois: Deciever!

Clark (shaking head): Each falsehood got harder. I just knew...

Lois: Liar!! Mason's not our problem,

Clark (whispering): Quiet!

Lois: ...re-establishing...

Clark: Shhh!

Lois: ...trust,

Clark (pointing to door, whispering): Unexpected visitors!

Lois: Who?

wow, i was hoping for a few chuckles or something. thanks, guys! smile

and vicki, of course i don't mind. i was hoping someone would pick up where i left off, finish the second trip around the alphabet. you did a good deal more than that. wow, great job! and rotflol i love the exchange with the nodding.

as for continuing, i can only think of two possibilites offhand, and they're both cheating...

"XYZ!" (universal playground code for "examine your zipper!")

or naming the visitor something like "xavier yorrik zomir, aka bobby cole."

dunno. anyone have any better ideas? smile

Athos: If you'd told us what you were doing, we might have been able to plan this properly.

decided to pick up where vicki left off. came up with this in my head while taking the dog through the park.

Lois looks around, spots the visitors, then looks back to Clark. Eyes widening, she says: XYZ!

Clark looks confused.

Lois: Your zipper!

Clark looks down, blushes, then covers his recently revealed tights.

Mayson, walking up: About before, Clark...

Clark looks vaguely uncomfortable.

Dan: <clears throat> Did everyone forget? ... Gordon Hutchenson I {to be clear, that's pronounced "the first"} just killed Luthor's man, Nigel, over Project: Quick Ressurection!

a bit more wordy than usual, and i'm not entirely certain where to go from there, but how's it look? laugh and, more importantly, who wants to pick this up and write the next bit?

PS - about the "wordiness" - I like it. Makes it sound more like a "real" story. As long as our dialog follows the alphabet, I think we're OK. (Yvonne, what do you think?)

Well, no-one else has stepped up to finish our story, and I hate seeing it leave off like this, so I've come up with an ending.

It's just a tad wordy, but I did my best. As you can see, I've been forced to cheat a bit, too, but there are only so many Q, X, and Z words!

Without further ado...

Lois (sarcastically): Some tragedy.

Clark (bringing everyone up-to-date on what his research has turned up): Unfortunate victim was x-rayed...

Lois (whispering to Clark, afraid he has unwittingly given himself away): You “zapped” ...??

Clark (shaking head and whispering back in clarificaton): Autopsy

Clark (continuing): Bludgeoning could definitely explain fractures, gross head injuries, jagged...

Dan (upon noticing Lois' green-tinged face): Kent...

Lois: Luthor must not outwit police questioning!

Dan (to Mayson): Ready?

The two depart.

Lois: So then, unlucky valet was x-ed...

Clark’s face takes on a familiar look. Shrugging his apology, Clark spins into suit, flies away.

Lois (finishing her sentence in disgust): ... you zoom away.

Several hours later (during which we can presume Luthor has been arrested, Dan & Mayson have run off together to elope, and Lois has come to see the light):

Clark: Before...

Lois: Clark, don’t. Everything’s forgiven.

Lois (continuing, off Clark’s unconvinced look): Guilelessly, honestly.

Clark: I...

Lois: Just kiss...

Clark: Lois...

Lois: me!

THE END.

NOTES: Zapped is commonly used to mean microwaved, so it's a bit of a stretch for Lois to use it meaning x-rayed, but, hey, whatever. I actually found the word x-ed in the dictionary, meaning crossed-off, deleted. Lois uses it here to mean killed. I'm assuming Gordon Hutchenson is one of Luthor's lackeys, and that all concerned know that Luthor is behind Nigel's murder.

Actually, we could probably cut & paste this directly over to the Bad Fic Challenge! You've got to admit that following Yvonne's challenge rules has resulted in some pretty bad dialog! wave

Vicki, you're amazing!!! jawdrop There is no way on earth I could manage to do this!

Okay, here's a variant: reverse the alphabet. Start with Z and work your way backwards!
