Very interesting premise.

My take would be rather than using her insane asylum investigation, to use her trip around the world, which she did the next year. She beat the fictional Phileas Fogg by eight days. And since that story was written by Jules Verne whom she met on the trip, it could make for an interesting encounter if H.G. Wells shows up. And lots of opportunities to meet Clark and his alter-ego, whom she might have inspired...
