I was probably too harsh on Part 2, it's just one of those pet peeve things, really.
Once again we see how much Clark needs Lois. I've seen the quote "Clark Kent's Superman is Lois Lane" and this story shows that so clearly. When he gets confused, hurt, bogged down in doubts, she is there to help him remember why he does what he does.
