In the case of Lois' visiting Clark's room I have to side with VR. A noblewoman would never visit a man's bed chamber without being properly escorted. By such behavior she was considered 'despoiled' and was not fit to be aligned with a man of Luthor's position. Now if she were to meet him on some neutral grounds like the stables with James in tow, than she could teach him to read and write with fewer problems.

Just an observation.

So, when is Lord Tempos going to put in an appearance? It is not like that self-centered blowhard to miss an opportunity to make everyone miserable!
