Okay, yeah. I don't watch videos often. I'm on dial-up and all. Every once in a while, though...

In any case, I had a kind of a thought today.

There's this song. It's an old favorite of mine. Very few people know it, but I think it's cool. It used to get stuck in my head all the time. For days, sometimes. And that was before the CD it's on became my official MRI soundtrack.

Haven't thought about it for a while, but it popped back to mind today and it occured to me that it could make for a cool video starring Alt-Clark.

It's called "Ordinary World," and it's by Duran Duran.

Since I couldn't find a decent site which had the correct lyrics, looked readable, and didn't try to install spyware on my computer, I'll just put them here.

Quote
Came in from a rainy Thursday on the avenue
Thought I heard you talking softly
I turned on the lights, the TV, and the radio
Still I can't escape the ghost of you

What is happening to it all?
Crazy, some say
Where is the life that I recognize?
Gone away...

But I won't cry for yesterday
There's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive

Passion or coincidence once prompted you to say
"Pride will tear us both apart"
Well, now pride's gone out the window
cross the rooftops,
run away
Left me in the vacuum of my heart

What is happening to me?
Crazy, some say
Where is my friend when I need you most?
Gone away...

But I won't cry for yesterday
There's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive

Papers in the roadside tell of suffering and greed
Feared today, forgot to tomorrow
Here beside the news
Of holy war and holy need
Ours is just a little sorrowed talk

Just blowing away

And I don't cry for yesterday
There's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to surive

Every world is my world (I will learn to survive)
Any world is my world (I will learn to survive)

Every world is my world
Any world is my world
(repeat and fade)
So... I don't know. The middle verse isn't really apt, but the rest seems a lot like Alt-Clark. Stuck with the ghost of a special woman, lost without her, struggling to move on, somehow. Doing crazy things like putting on a brightly colored spandex costume. Concerned about the greater problems of the world. Taken, sometimes, to other worlds entirely...

Not sure if there's enough footage to make a video for him, but if there is, I think it'd be pretty cool.

Any takers?

Paul

When in doubt, think about penguins. It probably won't help, but at least it'll be fun.
