I've done a lot of research on Diabetes (because last summer I had to do all of the background research for the postdoc in my lab who developed an implantable glucose seneor). Diabetes can never be "cured," but it can be controlled (Type 2 much more easily than Type 1). But it can't be cured. There have been a lot of advances in Diabetes care, though - although that still doesn't chage the fact that Diabetes is not a fun disease frown (my grandmother just died from complications a few months ago mecry )
