Are there any other things that are considered canon by fan fiction authors that have no basis in the show? I think this is a fascinating topic.
Rhea, yes there's lots... it even has a name, FoLClore, here's at least one of the discussions that we've had about it before:
FoLClore I find it really fascinating as well. I'm always amazed at how little things in the show, or ideas from other versions of Superman, and even from completely outside the fandom, can grow into something else in the hands of authors.
