Herkimer wears the Anti-Whammy helmet and an ill-fitting tux. He's wiring the most recently stolen electronic gear into the Vibro-Whammy's guts. The camcorder on the tripod beside him records him. A second Anti-Whammy helmet sits on the workbench beside him. HERKIMER (to the camcorder) Here it is, Mom. The answer to (X) your prayers. Ready for action. And it's all yours. He picks up the second helmet. It's labelled "Roweena". HERKIMER (CONT'D) With this little helmet you'll be totally unaffected while all those sniveling idiots around you battle to be first in line to do your bidding. ROWEENA (O.S.) Who are you talking to?! Herkimer scuttles around to see Roweena standing at the top of the basement stairs. HERKIMER Come down here, Mother. I got a big surprise for you. The machine KICKS IN WITH A SHUDDERING RUMBLE! Lois grabs her head as memories flood in. Roweena stops cold and drops the pistol. Deter struggles to stay conscious. Herkimer, his helmet protecting him, watches Roweena, sadly. HERKIMER (CONT'D) I made it for you, Mom. So that maybe, just once, you'd say you loved me. Do one thing for me. ROWEENA (dully) Anything son. HERKIMER Tell me you love me. ROWEENA (struggling against the words) Erk. Ack. Herkimer DIALS UP the Whammy's power. HUGE RUMBLING! HERKIMER Say it! Before this blows up and kills us all! ROWEENA (eyes popping) Gik. Herkimer cranks the power dial all the way into the red. We SEE needles and gauges spike into the DANGER ZONE. HERKIMER Hurry up! Suddenly, the Whammy overheats and VIBRATES wildly! The HUM rises in pitch. HERKIMER (CONT'D) Time's wasting! The Vibro-Whammy throws SPARKS as it begins its meltdown. Herkimer's helmet begins to SMOKE as he begins to shake, caught in the Whammy's power. SUPERMAN CRASHES THROUGH THE CEILING!
