(X) 2 EXT. THE STREET IN FRONT OF LOIS' APARTMENT - NIGHT 2 Superman extinguishes a burning, bomb-blasted car with SUPER BREATH as Lois runs down the stoop stairs. People are appearing in doorways, window. LOIS (into her cel phone) Ten-fifty-eight Carter Avenue! A car! It exploded! (to Superman) Was anybody hurt? Superman leads Lois to the blasted figure of BUD COLLINS. SUPERMAN It's Bud Collins. LOIS Oh, Bud. SUPERMAN I think it was a car bomb. I smelled C-4. Collins thrusts a bomb-blasted laptop computer at her. COLLINS (with his last breath) Lois. It's all there. Encrypted on my hard drive. But it's all there. SUPER: (in hi-tech spy movie teletype) _Velogrud Pass in the Boroslav Republic_ A handheld detonator, LEDS FLASHING, skitters down a dock toward the water. It stops with an inch to spare. Suddenly, JACK OLSEN, (mid 40s) a ruthlessly sexy secret agent in black jumpsuit, dives for it. He doesn't make it. He's grabbed and dragged backwards by the biggest HENCHMAN we've ever seen. Jack and the Henchman FIGHT. It's brutal, cool, and very Bondian. Jack is lifted and THROWN! The Henchman runs for the detonator. Jack chases him down, spins him around, takes aim at the Henchman's massive jaw. JACK You're going to make me (X) (PUNCH!) -- miss my train! JACK (not completely convinced) Of course. TREVANIAN We believe Collins was their inside source. But the damage goes deeper than that. Maybe neither one is very good at it, but people ought to just step aside and let them work it out, because it's what they've both dreamed about for years. Clark lovingly embraces Lois. CLARK (gently) Sounds like you're talking about you and your dad. LOIS (calmer) I just really want this to work out for Jimmy. CLARK So we shouldn't tell him my suspicions until we know more. LOIS (composed) That would be my suggestion. 27 NEW ANGLE 27 Jimmy comes out of the conference room, grabs some coffee. JIMMY So, uh... What'd you guys think of my dad? They glance at each other.
